Root Canal treatment

Reza your RCT surgeon provided me with expert and caring professional treatment. This occurred from pleasure of introduction, to explanation and xray pictures of the work needed. This after assessing my current situation of health and current discomfort symptoms from the tooth affected.
The nursing attendance was also excellent.
I am pleased with the work done and certainly would recommend Reza if the need arose.
Whilst I experienced slight discomfort during and immediately after the work there was no need to take painkillers and the following morning no trouble or discomfort from the operation. 10 out of 10. Thank you.

I have attended Watercress Practice for a few years. I find at reception you are always greeted with a smile.

I was very nervous but everyone made me feel so welcome and put me at ease immediately. The treatment was excellent and very professional, but I always felt they recognised that I was human! And Bruce Springsteen was an inspired choice!

Replacement of an Old Tooth Filling

Removal of the old filling and setting the new one in place was as far as I could tell done very effectively and with the usual care. But before treatment commenced I was surprised to be given what felt like a spray of something to numb the jawbone which unexpectedly gave me a bitter taste. Also prior to removal of the old filling my mouth was stuffed with a rubbery cloth which was uncomfortable and restricted my tongue. Furthermore, as the treatment progressed I became aware of saliva collecting under my tongue which bothered me, and I was finding it difficult if not impossible to swallow. Because of the cloth in my mouth I had some difficulty in asking for work to be temporarily suspended to allow the saliva to be removed.

We're glad to hear that removing the old filling and placing the new one was done effectively and with the usual care. We are sorry to hear that on this occasion you feel the explanations about the procedure were not given in sufficient detail.
We'll take the opportunity to fill the gaps: The anaesthetic you received was a conventional injection, and although you did not feel the needle, we are sorry some bitter test was felt after, this would typically go away after rinsing.

The rubbery cloth placed in your mouth for isolation it's the rubber dam. Rubber dams provide isolation by separating the treatment area from the rest of the mouth. This helps keep the area dry and free from saliva and other contaminants, improving the accuracy and quality of dental work
most importantly preventing accidental ingestions of the metal/ mercury fillings as these are removed. Because of these reasons generally, patients feel more comfortable with the rubber dam on as they don't feel the hands and instruments of the operators or the water running down their throat. Still, we are sorry to hear that this was not your experience. Communication is difficult with a rubber dam, but you eloquently pointed to us that your mouth was filling up.

In the future, should you wish for a detailed preparatory explanation, please let us know in advance so that we will allow extra time. For routine procedures like a filling, we just talk the patient through the procedure as it unfolds, our perception is that most patients would feel overwhelmed if the procedure is described in great detail. But we are happy to customise things to your preference.
