My son ended up having his first baby tooth removed yesterday. I was a little disappointed with the lack of communication towards him, nothing was explained to him during the experience or what was to be expected. For example once he was given the injection obviously his face and mouth become numb and he didn't have a clue what was happening or what to expect so I had to step him and explain to him as I could see he was scared. I was then very shocked to learn that he wasn't allowed to have his tooth, especially with this being his first baby tooth that he was loosing. We again was given no explanation to as why we couldn't have it we was just told we couldn't have it. Harvey was given a tooth loss card but I feel like this was only given as I mentioned having the tooth. I feel that a little more information and empathy towards patients is required especially young children.
As a parent these things are memories and to not be able to keep a childs first tooth is alittle upsetting.
