I'm a nervous patient and the dentist was excellent.

I have not seen a dentist in a long time so I was very nervous as my teeth are not in the best condition. I saw Dr ivy ans there was no judgment at all. I explained my nerves and she thanked me for being honest with her and told me we will sort it. I walked out feeling so relieved and assured.

Had an appointment for the first time in a few years but the dentist greeted us as though we had been in just recently. She, and the reception staff, were incredibly understanding about my son’s needs (he’s autistic) and did everything they could to help him. I was very impressed with the way we were all treated.

I visited West Quay Dental Surgery on Thursday 21 August 2025.
I didn’t have an appointment but I went at the time the surgery had opened.
I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who enquired the reason for my visit.
I explained that I had suffered from sensitivity in my teeth previously but wanted to be sure I did not have toothache from another problem in my teeth.
They arranged an appointment with a dentist who examined my teeth and took X-rays to make sure that the treatment I was given was correct.
The dentist and other staff were very friendly and reassuring throughout the procedure.
It was decided that my problem was caused by sensitivity
I had explained prior to their investigation that I had been very close to a neighbours dog. He had just passed
away and wondered if this could have been a reaction to his death.
The heart break of losing him had triggered off the sensitivity
His owners had given him a wonderful life and allowed us to share it.
As there was no other obvious reason the Dentist decided that it was a possible reason and recommended a course of Colgate Duraphat 5000 to deal with the problem.
She gave clear instructions on how it should be used and I used it yesterday.
I am pleased to say that I experienced almost instant relief and a good sleep last night which I needed.
