This was my first dental check up in 2 and a half years as all dentists in Dorchester were not taking on NHS patients when I moved here. I found Suzana to be very professional. Her examination of my mouth and teeth was thorough. Further treatment I require was explained to me carefully. I have chosen to have a composite filling as I don’t want mercury amalgam in my mouth. So I am prepared to pay for that as I realise it is not an option on the NHS. However, I cannot afford to be a fully private patient and will want to remain as an NHS patient for future appointments.

A real gift for reassuring nervous patients
Bart is always excellent. I suffer from anxiety and his patience is endless. My teeth have been well cared for in his surgery. It is worth mentioning that his assistant is very able with a real gift for reassuring nervous patients like me.

My experience
Having arrived before my dental check-up, I was told that a technician was investigating a problem with the equipment and there were two outstanding 15 minute appointments. I was advised that I could wait or return in 20 minutes. I returned within 15 minutes and was called for my appointment almost immediately. The examination felt rushed. The elapsed time between entering the dentist surgery and completing the payment at reception thereafter was less than 10 minutes. The bill was £74. I was very unimpressed.

My experience
Dentist was fine, very nice etc but I don't see how it is fair that we have to pay private fees because we happened to be given the dentist who went private whilst others just happened to be lucky enough to be allocated one that remains NHS. We didn't pick our dentist, they did, and she went private after years of being NHS. We can't afford to see you as often as we should.
