Longsight Dental Centre
I'm a private dental patient and the prices are abysmal. I understand that private patients have to pay more for dental care, but why do I have to pay nearly double for two amalgam fillings, when it's not fully done, the material that they have used is cheap and I can still see a little bit of the cavity? My fillings don't look like they are going to last a week, let alone a few years and it looks like concrete more than silver. I had to wait nearly two months to get these fillings, even though I'm a private patient, that's unfair because I'm paying more than some people for this lousy treatment.
I would also like to point out that I had to pay £58 for a basic scale. Why is it that expensive? It should be like £40, not £58 because I had slight plaque accumulation on my teeth, it wasn't even that much and she barely polished my teeth.
On the day that I had my basic scale, I waited longer than anticipated, I believe I waited for between 30 to 40 minutes in the waiting room, I am normally patient, but considering I am a private patient and paying higher dental fees than some people, why did I have to wait that long to be seen? A simple "Sorry" doesn't cut it since I am struggling financially and can barely afford private dental care but other NHS dental practices are oversubscribed and that means I cannot get a place and the last time I had dental care was when I was 15, which was five years ago, so I was desperate to go to any dental practice for my teeth. I also waited some time to be seen for my dental consultation, despite being a private patient.
I had my latest dental appointment today (1st August 2023) and she told me beforehand, during my dental consultation and basic scale that I could have 3 fillings on the same day, but ended up only getting two fillings and now I have to wait another 6 months to get (hopefully) my last filling. What changed and how could somebody be so fickle? I wanted to get this over and done with, but now I have to wait even more and I have to wait until 2024?
I asked for a refund because my 1st dental appointment got cancelled and I figured that money would be better spent elsewhere. The receptionist told me she'd speak to the manager and I'd get a refund, but nobody called me back, despite having my phone number, so felt forced to book a consultation appointment, so don't think you're my first choice, because you're not.
So far I have spent £293 on this particular dental practice but for what?
Now, I have to wait another 6 months to get another filling. Why is that? If I am only getting one filling in the next 6 months and have to pay another £77, then my total cost will be £338, but none of that treatment was worth it, not only because of the price but because I was lied to and misled. What's the point of paying all of this money? There's no distinction between private and NHS patients, you treat them all the same, even though NHS patients are lucky that they have to pay significantly less fees than I do. NHS patients all pay for band treatment and I wish I could do the same and I should be allowed to do the same since you all misled and lied to me.
