Scott is wonderful young personable dentist. He understood my neurosis regarding dental treatment. He packed one tooth where I had lost a filling.

My experience
I came in today for a filling, then a scale and polish. My filling was fine and I was happy with that, but I was only given a scale and no polish, so my teeth are still stained. I’ve phoned to complain but just being told he says he did a “scale and polish”, he did have problems with the machine at the end, don’t know if it was related. When I was with Scott, he would polish to get rid of stains at the end, but didn’t get that today. Now going to have to pay extra to see the hygienist.

I am sorry to hear you were unhappy with your recent NHS scaling appointment.
I have outlined the NHS guidance below. The removal of staining is generally a cosmetic treatment provided which can be paid for privately with our dental Hygienist and scaling is based on clinical need.
NHS Coverage:
Available on the NHS when deemed clinically necessary by your dentist.
Clinical Need:
Your dentist will assess your oral health and determine if a scale and polish is required to address plaque build-up or gum disease.
Alternative:
If your teeth are healthy, you may be offered a private hygiene appointment for a scale and polish, as it might not be covered by the NHS.
We also offer air flow stain removals within Practice.
