Providing a medical history update every 6 months is an important regulated requirement for providing safe patient care.
It is also a Care Quality Commission directive which we are monitored against.
Please be assured it is definitely not something we do to create more administration for ourselves - that clearly would be insane!
We have done our best to reduce the form-filling requirement as we appreciate that our patients would rather not complete it but unfortunately it is not something we can stop doing.
It is disappointing to hear that you have found our receptionists "smug" and "rude" - this is quite a contradiction to most of the patient feedback we get about our front of house team who patients regularly tell us are friendly and welcoming - see comments @ www.workingfeedback.co.uk.
We do think that if we reduced our front of house team this would have a negative impact on patient morale - patients would be waiting longer at reception and this would not be a good patient experience.
