We completely understand the disruption and inconvenience last minute changes/absence cause for our patients however, quite often we don;t know the about the absence until the morning of the appointments. Our priority at this point is to contact everyone coming in to make sure they know and don't arrive with no Dentist to see them.
We will discuss your feedback with our team to see how we can improve the communication of the last minute changes. We also appreciate that some patients may prefer to wait for their regular Dentist to return rather than see a locum so we'll look at how we can make it clearer if we do have to replace your routine Dentist with a locum in future.

Thank you for your feedback - filling out forms is a task we all dis-like too and would rather not do unless we have to.
However completing a Medical History is an important part of visits to the Dentist and ensures we are kept up to date with your health and well-being.
We are required to obtain updated Medical History Forms for every patients at 6 monthly intervals and also to ensure we ask at every appointment how you are and if there have been any changes to your health. In addition to our personal concern for your well-being, this is a compliance requirement from the Care Quality Commission and NHS England who monitor the care we provide to our patients and scrutinize our record keeping to ensure we are a safe and well-run practice.
Alongside the Medical History Form, we are also required to obtain signed consent to any treatment we provide and confirmation of your attendance at any NHS funded appointments - this is the blue form we may ask you to sign when you come to see us.
So whilst we apologise for the form-filling in and we sincerely appreciate it can be a bit tiresome, we do assure you, there is a reason and if we could reduce the paperwork, we definitely would!
You can of course download a Medical History form from our website or have one emailed to you - fill it in before you come to see us and this will save time at Reception.
We are also looking at electronic versions which you can complete on an IPAD at the practice in the future.
But unfortunately the requirement to complete a form at most appointments will be on-going. Sorry!
