We are very sorry to hear we kept you waiting as your Dentist was running late. We do try our best to keep to time but occasionally we encounter an emergency or a problem which can cause us to over-run. We would like to reassure you that we would not compromise patient needs and always ensure you have the allocated duration to complete your check-up or treatment effectively, even when this runs into our normal close of business times. We apologise if you felt it was a rushed appointment as this would not have been our intention.

We appreciate your disappointment following your recent visit to Newport Pagnell Dental however we are sure you appreciate that due to the coronavirus and all the additional safety measures we have in place for patient and staff safety, it is not possible at this time to deliver un-planned treatments unless it is an emergency.
A good example of this is a clean and polish treatment which we would have done at a routine check-up pre-covid but because it generates aerosols (particles in the air), we now have to leave the surgery empty for 15 minutes after treatment and before the next patient can enter to let our dental air filtration system decontaminate the air. If we did un-planned scale and polish treatments, the next patient's appointment would have to be delayed by 20 minutes which would not be fair to them. This is why we ask patients to make an appointment specifically for a check-up or a clean and polish so we can plan the right amount of time for your treatment and we can plan the air decontamination time, for both patient and our teams safety.
An x-ray does not generate any aerosols and forms part of a routine check-up where the Dentist deems it necessary to help assess and determine treatment decisions

Radiographs (x-rays) are important information used to help us understand tooth and root positioning and to detect and diagnose dental problems. There must be a justifiable reason for taking radiographs and it was felt necessary at your check-up given it was the first comprehensive assessment by this Dentist.
However we are very sorry to hear you felt pressured as that is never our intention. You can of course decline to have radiographs taken in which case we would need to make you aware that it may limit the advice the Dentist can give you and the treatment options we can offer without complete information.
