We are not very clear about whether you mean routine appointments go on for a long time or if you feel like the process from referral to treatment start can be quite pro-longed so hopefully our response below will help clarify both circumstances:
We appreciate that from your Dentists Referral to actual "start of treatment" can be quite a pro-longed period. The reason for this is that we have limited NHS funding which will only start treatment for a limited number of patients each year. We do our best to keep on top of this but unfortunately local demand is so much greater than the NHS funding we have allocated to us each year, hence why we have a waiting list of around 20 months to start your NHS funded treatment.
Orthodontic treatment can take up to 2 years depending on individual circumstance. We appreciate this may seem a long time to attend appointments but remember it is gradual tooth movement and alignment we are achieving and this will only happen with frequent and regular visits to the orthodontist.
