Advised that my bleeding gums required a visit to the hygienist but that would be an additional charge and appointment. Tier 1 of nhs charges states that scale and polish is included if required.

Receptions is inaccessible for wheelchair users
The desks at reception are extremely inaccessible. My mother is a wheelchair user and she can’t come on her own because she just gets ignored as the staff cannot see her. I have to accompany her to ensure she is spoken to which is really unfair as I’m not always available. It’s particularly difficult when there’s a queue as she can’t always get round to the bit where there’s a gap. The design is terrible and frankly ableist.

My experience
The receptionist was very efficient and the dentist I saw took the time to explain the results of my xrays, plan for treatment and possible issues and how these may be resolved.
The only issue I had was the wait between appointments, which was over 18 months.

My experience
I felt like the dentist was quite confrontational and dismissive. I am autistic and have to be able to understand what and why I am being told something, I left today not knowing why I was given a different treatment today (sent away with a prescription as opposed to a tooth extraction). This was despite my pain being much worse this time and having followed previous advice about salt water swilling and Corsodyl mouthwash. I felt rushed out of the door. My questions were not answered with the information I needed in a sensitive manner, but there was an attempt to sell me a private membership plan before I left. The dental nurse appeared to have picked up on my level of discomfort and explained what my next steps were before I left.
The reception staff are amazing. They were very helpful on the phone prior to an appointment, and were very helpful and friendly afterwards.
On my next visit I would like a different dentist to look after me please.
