I have a lovely dentist but can no longer go private as it’s too expensive. My dentist has treated me for many years and is very kind and will miss seeing her and her assistant who is also wonderful.

A positive experience at my mums recent appointment
Thank you for seeing mum for her review with Rebecca Mum has advanced dementia and attended with a carer from her nursing home and myself - her daughter. She was in a wheel chair so we had a down stairs room and we were afforded time and space to transfer her to the treatment chair. We did not feel rushed despite it being a very busy afternoon. Rebecca was brilliant with mum - she enabled mum to successfully complete her appointment and spent time discussing mums oral hygiene in the home setting. I worried about this appointment due to mum's ability to engage, her mobility issues and actually getting her to the appointment but dental care has always been so important to mum. All went well and for mum it was a positive experience.

I was not impressed with Rose. She was strongly insisting I start doing various things like using an electric toothbrush, mouthwash/salt water etc. No commendation for all the things I am doing right. I told her about a sensitive area round a tooth but she apparently ignored my request to take care there. She was heavy handed in my mouth and kept knocking the safety goggles with her hand and arm. Water was spraying over my face and dribbling down my neck. She did not attempt to mop it up.

Extraction
Shortly after a successful extraction of two front teeth, an infection of a nearby compromised tooth precipitated the need for its extraction. Having phoned reception early Friday morning, I was able to see Rebecca at 10.30am and she was able to do this difficult extraction of the broken tooth within the hour. Recovery, in accord with her advice, has gone well to date (Sunday) and the infection cleared up as well.

Appointment
My visit today was a memorable one. The ground floor is having some alterations which wasn’t by any means a small job. Ladies behind the desk didn't seem too impressed with working conditions. New wire hanging from walls etc. made it look like a building site. Why they don't phase the work I don't know. Maybe close down the business for a couple weeks so the trades can get the job done more swiftly. I am in the trade so know how difficult it is to carry out work and have to tidy up each day. Will cost more in long run!
