Firstly, we would like to thank you for your loyalty during this difficult time. Having sourced all necessary PPE and following all current guidelines we are delighted to inform you that we are now able to restart treating patients face-to-face.
When you came in, you will have seen that we have made a lot of changes to how we deliver care in order to keep you and our team as safe as possible. Whilst we are already excellent in our policies and procedures surrounding cross contamination, we have had to bring in additional investments as part of new guidelines in the current climate. Part of these changes is the use of enhanced Personal Protective Equipment (such as masks, surgical gowns, face protection, etc) for any procedures where aerosol is generated. Unfortunately we will have to pass some of the cost on to our patients. These procedures include any fillings, root canal treatments, hygiene and crown appointments. Those that generate aerosols are the ones that carry the greatest risk and require respirator masks and special surgical gowns, as well as other enhanced measures. For routine examinations enhanced PPE is not required and hence there is no surcharge.
For the additional costs in protecting our patients and team during their patient journey, we are charging an additional charges where aerosol is produced. These charges are purely to help cover our costs and we are making no profit on them. We expect the cost of these items to reduce in time, and we will of course reduce the charge accordingly. They will also not be necessary once we reach a low enough threat level as determined by the government.
