After waiting a long time for a check up due to circumstances beyond the control of Selby Dental Care, I had started to feel a throbbing pain in my teeth. I was able to get a rush pain appointment next day and the dentist I saw was lovely, patient and explained the situation to me and steps to fix it. I was very happy with the care I received.

Slightly disappointed reading the notices you no longer offer routine descaling & cleaning of teeth on a routine checkup. Feel this is just another way of making extra money with hygenists bookings which some people are unable to afford.

The guidelines for cleans included within examinations are set up by the NHS rather than individual practices. A scale and polish is included in an NHS check-up when deemed necessary for maintaining gum health. If your dentist determines that a scale and polish is not clinically necessary, you may need to book a private hygiene appointment for a more thorough cleaning. This would usually be booked with the hygiene restorative therapist. More information can be found on the NHS.uk website.
