With regards to the duration time of your appointment, please consider that this is entirely dependent on how dentally fit a patient is and therefore varies widely on an individual basis. The length of time of the appointment must also account for strict cross infection control procedures and thorough note taking.

As part of your examination, the Dentist will take routine X-rays (if necessary) and assess your need for a scale and polish resulting in 3 possible outcomes:

1. It may not be deemed necessary
2. If it is deemed necessary, the Dentist may provide this under the NHS band 1 charge of £26.80
3. If your gum health indicates the need for a more extensive clean, the Dentist will refer you to the Hygienist who has the necessary skills and clinical time to provide this service. This generates a NHS band 2 charge of £73.50
