I am sorry you had to wait outside, and I can understand your frustration when it seems there is an opportunity to wait inside. We are trying to allow one or two patients to enter if they are not yet able to go into surgery, but this is not always possible if we haven't the spare staff to actually assist in the Covid measures at point of entry. Many practices are still closed, and we are only able to be open as we are meticulously following the NHS England guidelines. However, this point is something we are mindful of and we will discuss this again in our next staff meeting to see if we can make any improvements.
With regard to your request regarding the security of personal items, this is now something we can imrpove. Initially, guidance was that these items should not be taken into the clinical area, but amendments can now be made. Therefore, we will revise our Standard operating Procedure to enable the container to be placed inside the surgery which the patient is in, increasing the security. I must stress that there has been no loss of items or any issue to date, but it is certainly more reassuring for patients to have their items in the same room.
