Woodborough House Dental Practice

I had an appointment with Sophie Lokes today. She was brilliant. I am usually an anxious patient no matter what I go to the dentist for. Sophie made me feel very relaxed. People on the reception desk are always friendly and helpful.

My son had quite severe issues with his teeth that required Orthodontic Balancing. The results have been amazing and I have to call out Dr Luis Mendoza for his skills and encouragement. The team work ethos he utilised with my son was superb.

So doc, how long will my implants last?”
“Hmm, indefinitely, however, you can at least expect about twenty years.”
That conversation was back in 1999 which is now approaching a quarter of a century ago when discussing my dental care with a noted Harley Street pioneer in the implant surgery methodology. The scope of the proposed can be described as, extensive!

In late 2023, now and old man aged eighty, my situation had reached something best described as a dental crisis. A crisis analogous to that of an old village churchyard’s cemetery whose precarious headstones in need of care; everything was infected and failing at which point the name, Nick Fahey was mentioned. “He’s your guy.”

The first consultation with Nick revealed the depressing extent of my problems.
“We don’t do it like that anymore.” He explained having considered the methodology used for my old implants. Seemingly, the advance in dentistry techniques including, equipment, materials and experience over the decades had evolved.

Nick developed an action plan which made me wince at the cost. Today I’m an old man and at eighty I’d entered the actuarial ‘death decade’ so it was not a question of the anticipated life expectancy of the implants but that of my own. Predictably, people gush to suggest that we will all get a telegram from the King having reach the great age of a hundred - yeah right. Levity aside, Nick rightly suggested that it is the quality, not quantity of life that is of the greatest importance. And today, having gone through almost a year of treatment, I can happily report that all is well. I am healthy while rid of infection and I feeling good.

Suffice it to say that, while omitting any mention of the actual gory surgical detail, I am in awe of Nick’s skill and that of his team. Walking into Woodborough House gives the feeling of pleasantness and confidence. And so, it is without hesitation that I can recommend these guys.

I had a root extraction, which no doubt was more complicated than an ordinary tooth extraction. Depeche removed the root professionally with no discomfort on my part.
