I visited the dentist today, and the service I received from my dentist (Dr Avinash) was superb as ever. The reception team are also highly professional. However, on trying to book my next appointment I was told that the practice of my dentist was now 100% private, and as such I would need to sign up for some sort of monthly subscription. To put some context to this, about a year or 18 months ago, we were told that the dentist would be going partially private, so our check-ups would be a little more expensive, however additional NHS treatment would still be available if needed. We were offered the opportunity to stay 100% NHS, however, because of the service we have previously received from Avinash, we elected to stay with him. Now there is no option to revert to the NHS, as the waiting list is 2000 strong. Lesson learned in life, if you have the option to stay 100% NHS, do so, or you will be left bitterly disappointed and feeling almost misled about the whole situation.

My experience
I went in for a hygienist appointment just a clean. The dentist said it was much better. Sat in the chair at 11.06 out of the chair by 11.12. Charged Band 2 £70.70 no polish and the receptionist wanted to charge me for a filling as well despite having the paperwork in front of her !

My experience
Had an appointment which charged 47 pounds in advance and when leaving asked me to do a deposit payment for the next slot of 100 pounds and the next day when I asked to see as have pain due to the filling done commented fully booked.
And the advance paid for the future appointment when I asked to return they said there is extra charges which never told me that day, cannot trust at all for the service or the cash. Dont pay advance sill charge unexpected.

I am always rushed out and the work is not explained. I feel like an inconvenience and it’s worrying to put my care in the hands of people who do that. I was very disappointed again today.

I am sorry to hear that you are not completely happy with our service. Your most recent appointment was booked as an urgent appointment; these are only 15 minutes long to assess the cause of the problem and, where necessary/possible, get a patient out of pain. As such, we are restricted to what we can do in that time. I can see you have further appointments to address the problem in more depth. These appointments are the appropriate length to do the necessary treatment. If you would like to discuss the treatment plan in more depth before going ahead, please contact the practice and we can arrange this.
I will, of course pass on your concerns to the clinician. I know they would be disappointed to hear you felt rushed. We use feedback such as this in our practice meetings so that we can improve our service.
