I am concerned that Equilibrium is taking an overly conservative approach to investments at the moment which may hold back recovering the losses and negative returns of the last 2 or 3 years.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, it is appreciated.
Our fund manager, Mike Deverell has reviewed your feedback and made the following observations:
“With regard to our conservative approach, in the core funds (Cautious, Balanced, Adventurous) our remit is to try and achieve the target returns in as steady a fashion as possible.
“We don’t feel we are being particularly cautious, however there are certain classes of fixed interest (bonds) which we think can produce returns of similar magnitude to equities but with less volatility. As a result, we have increased exposure to these and slightly reduced equity exposure. However, this is marginal and we still retain a decent amount in equities. Therefore, should markets continue to rise the portfolios would benefit.”
Returns wise, 2024 has been a positive period so far and we are gradually recovering the losses that have been experienced. Of course, if you still feel that your portfolio is too conservative when compared with your risk tolerance, then please do speak to your adviser at the earliest opportunity.
I am delighted to be able to confirm that we are indeed holding a Market Update event in London on 14th November 2024 for our clients who are based in and around the London area. Invitations will be issued shortly, however in the meanwhile please do let your adviser know that you wish to attend and we will allocate a place for you. - Sarah Hammond, Head of Best Practice.
