Maintaining 'equilibrium' and confidence in difficult times.
The most important thing for any investor is having confidence in the people making the decisions and in the strategy behind the actions they take. I think Equilibrium do that with their frequent presentations and communications. I know Paul is available to speak to whenever i have a query and Deborah will quickly sort any day to day issues.
I know we are still on a knife edge and nothing is certain but at the moment my portfolio is doing better than I expected. I think that what stands out, as in most situations, is the people involved and their attitude.
Although the business has grown larger and larger over the ten years I have been with Equilibrium, it still maintains an informal, accessible feel. I know that I would not be where I am today financially without them.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re unhappy with the recent changes in our team which has resulted in both a different adviser and client manager taking responsibility for your account. We have since been in touch to discuss the matter with you which has been resolved satisfactorily. As a general rule, we do try to maintain consistent support as far as possible although due to internal promotion or even the odd resignation, changes are sometimes inevitable; however, we do our utmost to ensure these are kept to a minimum.

When all the world is in chaos. EQ Has kept its cool calm approach and adapted to the situation and come up with some brilliant ideas Catherine has even be able to get us to use the portal and video calls.

Great Service
The key thing is trust. I have been with Equilibrium for pushing on for ten years and in that time I have never had cause for concern. I like the management style. It’s relaxed and friendly. I like the fact that Equilibrium provide a complete package making recommendations for IHT, setting up trusts, getting wills organised etc. It is good to have a one stop shop.

The reassurance given, via stress testing, that despite Covid19 my financial situation was secure. Additionally, the understanding that the business continues to evolve to cope with the changing conditions being experienced in the investment world. We seem to have come an awfully long way from the early days of Applewood and Colin Lawson's philosophy of "gardening" your investments so that no one area was a disproportionately large part of the total portfolio.

Good service
Mickey always calls me back and is generally available when I call, even during Covid times.
He has got back to me with answers to my questions without me having to chase. Where he is not knowledgeable he will find out the answer and get back to me. There was an error with the tax reporting (not Mickey’s fault) but he checked it and rang to apologise for the error.

Resilient performance in difficult times.
Equilibrium have adapted well to the constraints imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Interaction with my Client Manager, Ben Harrison, have continued, albeit remotely and all issues have been satisfactorily addressed. Online presentations have been good in keeping me informed re both what Equilibrium is doing and the broader economic picture. Nonetheless direct face to face contact has been missed.
