I had some concerns about a growth and after speaking to surgery staff and submitting pictures I received appointment later same day. This led to a referral to dermoscopy and subsequent hospital referral. all completed exceptionally quickly and with care.

I started to fill in an e consult form when it closed and I was told to make an emergency appointment. I phoned and was given one for 30 minutes later. I was given tests and nothing was rushed. I couldn’t fault the service. That afternoon the doctor phoned me about the results and a prescription was sent to my pharmacy. He had also contacted the hospital and the following day I received a letter from them. I couldn’t have been treated better if I had gone private. The service really was excellent.

Efficient, professional

When I arrived at the surgery I was unaware of the on-screen booking service and went straight to reception. They asked if they could help and I explained I had an appointment. I was asked if I had booked in using the screen, which I then did. I was seen promptly by the nurse who was efficient, professional and polite throughout. I don't have access to the internet and find it difficult to get through to the surgery by telephone.

The phone lines are not always great yet you go into the surgery and they sitting in reception chatting about lifestyles which I have witnessed and ask why no one picking up phone you are waiting god knows how long..

Thanks for your 4 star review. We regularly review our phone data. We are also reviewing the entire system. Whilst we answer thousands of calls a month, it is pleasing to see that our abandonment rates and call wait times are reducing. Obviously there are 'peak' times when the phone line is busier, however we do endeavour to increase resource at this time to minimise the impact.

You won't see our receptionists answering the phones as we have a dedicated contact centre based at our Cosham Park Surgery. We have had this in place since 2017, and, in the main, it has greatly improved consistency and call times across the practice. Our reception team are there to support patients attending the surgery and attend to various, necessary admin tasks. Whilst we accept that most people 'chat' whilst still getting on with their work, it should not be significant or inappropriate. We will feed this back to the Surgery Team Leader.

Receptionist very pleasant and helpful - answered my queries and got immediate booster jabs owing ( MMR and Tetanus) and appointment for asthma clinic. Such a shame we can't get same service over phone and no appointments face to face only online when a lot of us older patients have no way of doing this! Service could be greatly improved by returning to the old appointment system. With fines for those who miss them for no good reason.

Thank you for your positive feedback on our reception team, and the 4 star review. We are currently reviewing our system. We would not be able to return to the old appointment system as it no longer matches the demand or capacity. Since COVID we have seen a shift in the ratio of urgent:routine, and we have employed a vast number of additional health care professionals. However that's not to say we cannot review and amend and make improvements. We will communicate anything as they happen!

Fines have long been on the agenda and we are not sure what will happen, but it is frustrating when we see the number of DNA appointments and the consequential impact these have on our capacity.

After an initial telephone appointment and a prescribed course of antibiotics, I called again a week later and was offered a face to face appointment for my problem because it had not improved.
I saw a medical professional who was a specialist in what I was suffering from and dealt with it quickly and efficiently.
I see lots of reviews on here, complaining about the Practice. Personally, I think the practice is well run and I have always been offered an appointment with a relevant medical professional for the condition I am phoning for. This is NOT always a Doctor, nor should it be. We should accept appointments for the best medical professional for our condition at the time and this surgery has employed lots of specialist in different fields.
The Care Navigators are also highly trained individuals and I have always found them exceptionally polite, knowledgeable and helpful.
