Disappointed with deterioration of service from my doctors surgery
Getting to see your doctor in the last two years is impossible. Reception staff are rude, unhelpful and abrupt. Not everybody has mobile phones or computers. I have still to get a appointment with the doctor however a blood test was arranged and spoke to a lovely nurse. I have had one of my inhalers taken off prescription and yet no replacement given. The chemist and now the nurse have written in my notes that I need a urgent medication review, and yet still I wait!.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback. The COVID pandemic did absolutely affect access - and that was, in the main, for patient safety. However, COVID is over and we have been increasing our access for some time. We are always reviewing our system and making changes where we think there could be benefit to patients. We have a wide team of highly trained and skilled staff. The doctor is not always the person a patient needs to see. That's why we've invested so much in care navigation - to see the right person the first time and avoid unnecessary appointments.
We would dispute that our reception staff are rude, unhelpful and abrupt. They are there to help and they want to help you resolve your issue. They are trained by our GP Partners to ensure the best possible outcome and to be labelled as such is very demoralising.
If you don't have access to online services or a phone, we can support you. You need to contact the practice so we can ensure your record is coded appropriately.
Pharmacies don't have access to your medical notes to be able to write notes, but you can contact our Prescription Hub 10am - 1pm Monday to Friday regarding your medication issue.

Very Good treatment on this visit.
I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment, I had just sat down when I was called in for my treatment. This was very welcome. I was treated in a friendly manner, with efficiency and respect.

The receptionist passed my on my problem and I received a call from Dr Kipgen at 1 45pm on the same day. Medication problem resolved at a stroke. No pun intended. Thank you so much and long may this level of service continue.

Blood Pressure
My blood pressure is raised and I have so far seen 3 nurses and a prescription has been "sent over" to the pharmacy. At each appt the nurses were very sweet and polite but had to keep leaving the room to consult with the "duty doctor". Surely it would be better to allow a patient to actually see a doctor to discuss and diagnose the cause of a symptom rather than just dish out pills and get nurses to do their work.
It's pretty much impossible to get through on the appointment line and if you do after hours routine appts are few almost non existent.

Thank you for your feedback. Our HCAs and Nurses are well trained on blood pressure. They duty doctor is there to supervise our extended healthcare team as well as undertake 'urgent' teleconsultations and on the day advice. In doing this, it saves what would otherwise be a 15 minute consultation, when our nurse likely only needs a couple of minutes of a GP time to either sign a prescription or provide clinical supervision. This enables ups to free up capacity.

Vaccination clinic
Booking a routine Vaccination appointment appears to be easy...getting an appointment to see a dr is totally ridiculously impossible...I have been needing to see a dr regarding going through the change for far too long now...whilst at my Vaccination appointment I asked the dr about a telephone consultation I had with a dr at the start of the year regarding my blood pressure and going through the change...he could find no notes on this...and no record of the blood pressure results I handed in months ago... I was referred to the receptionist to ask what is the best time to try and get an appointment I was told to try econsult at 7.30am but this still doesnt guarantee me getting an appointment as it shuts as soon as it reaches capacity...which is what I have been experiencing for months now...and there is zero privacy...you have to give your name...address.... dob...personal reason for being there...and to top it off your asked to speak up as they cant hear you...all this in front of a waiting room of strangers ! ALL TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

Thank you for your feedback. You have been given the correct advice, e Consult is the best way to access support regarding your medical issue. We are aware we are having issues with eConsult caps so you may be able to complete a paper form. We are also introducing a specific service around this topic soon, which we are very excited about. You can also try and book a telephone consultation online or via the phone from 10am Monday to Friday. We do appreciate the screens installed in reception over the pandemic do hamper some ability to hear, but you can always request to go somewhere quiet if possible. The personal identifiable information can include postcode rather than address. Regrettably our receptionists have had an increase in the amount of verbal and physical abuse and threats in recent months, so we do not intend to remove the screens.

I haven’t recently been to Kingston Crescent Surgery. I have had a short email, in answer to an online query, from an unknown doctor who could have been mailing Tom anywhere!

Thanks for taking the time to feedback. By the sounds of it, you've used our eConsult system and have had one of our remote eHub GPs email you in response to your query. That's exactly what should happen, a digital question more often than not, generates a digital response. You're quite right, they could be from anywhere in the UK! We have a mix of local and national GPs within our team, as do other practices in the country. Rest assured they are qualified and experienced registered professionals, but the beauty of remote working means we can tap into a national pool of clinicians, rather than those wishing to practice in Portsmouth (I'm sure you read the recent article where Portsmouth ahs the 'least' amount of GPs) so we see this as a positive step for our patients, as it increases our capacity. We engage with them regularly so they are very much part of the Portsdown team - just virtually more than physically!
