Reception staff member rude
I’ve never had any issues and and tested well by the medical and reception staff. Recent appointment I was met with an abrupt receptionist. I asked a simple question about if I had checked myself in correctly. She asked my name then said I can’t say your surname so I won’t try… as she speaks sooo loudly she announced my full name and address to whole waiting room. After asking her to not shout my details out I repeated my question. She repeatedly said my appointment is at 2:40; it was 9:20!!! I assured her it was 9:20 I have checked in, she repeated 2;40. The nurse then called my name I said thank you to her and walked towards nurse, she proceeded to shout over the waiting room saying I don’t have an appointment! Just to reassure you I did have an appointment the system booked 2 different times? The 2:40 was cancelled during my 9:20 appointment. So the ‘other’ person booked at 9:20 she told me about was me!!

Thank you for your review and rating. We are so sorry that your check in process was not smooth! We will look at rotas to find out who was on front desk at the time of you r arrival and relay this review to them and their line manager for learning and action. It is not common practice to relay patient details. When we we have to verify identity, we will usually ask the patient to confirm details to us as they can do so at their choosing i.e. quietly, in writing etc. it is also completely unacceptable for anyone to be shouted at as they leave the desk.
We are terribly sorry that you had this experience and we will address this as a matter of urgency.

Good service
I rang the urgent appointment line in the 03/05/22 once I got through, I was quickly phoned back by one of the doctors who decided I needed an appointment. I was seen the same morning by Dr Stradling. My experience was once I got through on the telephone I received a really good service.

Very difficult to get an appointment/eConsult
The surgery and the staff/practitioners are good. If you can get appointment.
Currently everything needs to go via the eConsult service, which is "full" by 8am, with no option other than to visit in person, or wait until the next day/week.

Thank you for your review and rating. We are pleased to hear you are happy with the service you receive.
Whilst we do encourage the use of eConsult, particularly for patients who struggle to be able to call us at 10am when the routine line opens, it is not the only way of accessing GP support. Appointments are released daily in the week online and at 7pm Monday to Friday for the following day. There is, of course, huge demand for GP appointments when they may not be the most appropriate team member for you to see. We recommend eConsult as we can put you in t ouch with the 'right' person first time, rather than risk you have a telephone consultation with a GP who advises you to contact or refers you internally to the 'right' person

Blood test , blood pressure, weight.
This was a routine check and I was treated very well indeed.
Any questions I asked were answered to my satisfaction.
Also Dr Monnery looked at a problem on my cheek bone took photos and sent them on to the skin department. Excellent service here as well.

Recent telephone call
We were called by Portsdown Practice to advise that my recent blood results had flagged up a potential for Type 2 Diabetes, as my blood sugar level was 42, just outside the upper normal range of 41. The ensuing conversation dealt with my current lifestyle - mainly that I was clinically obese and overweight is a critical factor in the development of diabetes. My diet of fresh fruit and vegetables plus red and white meat with no cakes, biscuits, crisps or sweets, was deemed on track and my low alcohol intake was a plus. BUT my smoking (6-8 per day) was considered a risk factor.
My recent knee replacement surgery had inhibited exercise, but my delayed recovery was now improved so I am more active & able to use a Pedal Exerciser: this is already helping me to lose weight, as well as making me feel more agile, fitter and less depressed.

Felt very safe
I felt very safe while waiting at surgery. Injections administered very efficiently (though I hadn't anticipated 3 instead of 1!). Would have preferred a nearer surgery than Kingston Crescent due to no car, but otherwise just fine.
