Self-check in, GP was very clean and seats arranged to social distance. I didn't have to wait long and the health care assistant that attended to me was super. Always had problems with finding a vein to get my blood but this lady was excellent.

Very hard to get an appointment with the GP and when you’ve got an appointment the receptionist are not welcome in there, quite rude, they are very rarely loud when they speak to the patients, I think there is no confidentiality between people waiting area and the patient the way reception is speak is very loud. The way all the receptionist speak to the patient in the waiting area it’s very loudly spoken makes me feel feel very scared of them, not very nice to hear very loud voice and harsh voice from them they need to be bit more calm and talk with some soft tone. They should make the patient very welcome and comfortable but instead they make me nervous and scared coming to GP coming in the reception area and waiting because I feel there is no confidentiality between the people waiting area and myself and the receptionist.

Blood test

Had a blood test, Becky the nurse was lovely.....

All that week I had been trying to find out about my Statin tablets, as I had run out, but no one had any idea, I was asked to phone this dept, that dept...the only person who was able to help and give some emergency tablets was the Boots Pharmacist in Cosham...it was disappointing, that the surgery could help me.

First impression very good

I phoned the emergency number, was called back within 30 mins, got an appointment that morning, was seen, diagnosed, after giving urine sample, prescription sent to chemist, collected my antibiotics 90 mins later, this is my first experience of using this practice, after I was moved when my last surgery shut down, so first impression very good.

Not impressed

2 out of 5 stars

I have ME which results in a plethora of symptoms but as there is no treatment I very rarely seek attention from the GP. I have had the Covid jabs early in the programme, which was a satisfactory experience but this can not be said of the recent booster jab.
I was offered a flu jab and made an appointment for this in the surgery by phone. Before the time arrived I was offered another appointment for the booster and when I phoned, I was told that I could have both together.
On arrival I discovered that the flu jab was on offer but the booster could not be given for another two hours. I spent some time in a shop and a cafe and on return to the surgery, hoping to wait, I found the door locked and on ringing the bell, I was told that I could not come in to wait. I found this surprising and awkward, as I can walk only a short distance before I start to have pain in my legs, and I was too far from home to get there and back in time for the appointment. I then found that when I returned ten minutes before the new appointment, I found a long and closely packed line of people waiting to be let in to the surgery and not wearing masks.
I can see that these measures are intended to reduce the risk of spread of the virus but they are self defeating and cause a lot of discomfort and inconvenience to patients. In my own case, I was upset and angry. I could not see that letting me in to the waiting-room, where there is an arrangement of seats, which complies with the required distance between people and carefully marked paths along all destinations to treatment rooms would have held any danger to me or anyone else and the inconvenience and pain in my back and legs as well as the humiliation of being turned away at the door, was a regrettable experience which could have been avoided. The plan to bring a large number of people at the same time for a minor procedure and to have them wait outside in a long line, to be let in one at a time, wearing a mask and keeping a regulation distance from others for fifteen minutes after the procedure in the waiting-room, does not make sense and takes no account of the fact that many patients have mobility and other problems, which are highlighted by this sort of plan.
I have no complaints about the procedure itself, or the staff carrying it out.
