Blood test review
It is extremely hard to get a doctors or a nursing professionals medical opinion. It seems to stop at the so called care navigator. And they can be rude. Not all of them.

Non Attendance at surgery
I telephoned the surgery regarding an accident I had had and I was asked to forward a photograph of the same, which I did. I was informed that as I had an appointment on the afternoon of that day (Friday) I was not able to make an appointment at surgery but was advised to 'phone 111 the following day for an appointment at St Mary's Hospital. This I did, and although an appointment could not be made I was advised to walk in and wait - which I did. I was eventually seen and treated and advised I must make an appointment for further treatment to my hand. This I did, an appointment was made at Cosham surgery, after which a further appointment was made at Somerstown surgery and again a futher appointment made at Cosham surgery, when finally I was told the hand was mending and no further treatment needed. This was after 2 weeks.

1st Visit to my new surgery!
Very efficient and helpful staff who have to work in a very built up inner city area. I would suggest that you have a security doorman at this surgery due to the area. It became quite tense waiting to be seen whilst a man with mental health issues was able to wander around amongst vulnerable patients.

So difficult to guess which time slot may be the correct one to phone in and then have to resort to tears to get anyone to listen and not be dismissed to the life sapping e consult, maybe you need enough staff to cope with the tens of thousands of patients you wanted to merge and snap up the payments for?

All of my contact with the GP has been online including information about treatment. I do not object to this where this can be done. However, what I do object to is being given timescales and them not being met by the practice.
I feel that the Portsdown Group since merging with other practices has become too big and can no longer cope with demand.

Excellent over the phone consultations
I have recently had to make use of a telephone consultation with a GP on two occasions a week apart. Fortunately (?) the problem was of a kind where it was helpful for me to send pictures - which I gladly and easily did. Both doctors with whom I spoke were very easy to communicate with, made helpful suggestions and provided prescriptions as required. On the second occasion a very speedy referral for an outpatint visit to QA was arranged for me.

Couldnt get an appointment. Was on hold for over an hour on two consecutive days to be told all appointments had gone 2 days in a row.Took a very long time to get back to me and was still only a telephone appointment no face to face.Not the way a palliative patient should be treated
