I was not informed of why I was there, I thought it was a chat about our next move, ended up with injection in thumb, little shocked to be honest, also trying to get an appointment is awful and stressful.

Thank you for your feedback. Without further details it is difficult to comment but it sounds like you were contacted for a minor surgery clinic, which should have been explained at the time of booking, and certainly before you were given any injection. This appointment would have come from a consultation referral you have had previously. Please contact us to give more information.

I have tried previously to make a non urgent appointment without success.
This time it was an emergency and everything went smoothly, I was seen within the hour and the person I saw was great and reassuring. He called me back the day after like he promised.

Failure to the patients in e consults due to break down in the system.

2 out of 5 stars
workingfeedback logo
I understand that due to Covid that things have changed. But unfortunately not for the better but for the worse. I have now been waiting 2 weeks or longer to have a 2nd e consult with somebody. As my first e consult was mistakenly thought dealt with after a visit to have a routine jab. When I mentioned that I had an e consult booked the doctor then said he would not deal with my issue as I had an e-consult already booked. The surgery put this down as my e consult being dealt with which was not the case. As of yet haven't received any telephone call but just text message to say that my review had been past on and I would either hear or not if necessary. How would I know if this is necessary or unnecessary if I do not get to speak to somebody after been told by the hospital that I needed to get my blood pressure sorted out. Fat chance of that. I understand that Covid is important but so is the well being and peace of mind of your patients. What happened to seeing a doctor after all we can give symptoms on an e consult but we are not doctors and we couldn't recognize maybe dangerous symptoms till it was too late.

Thank you for your feedback. eConsult is designed that the clinician may not need to contact you - the information you provide may be sufficient for the next steps to be taken but you will receive an electronic update on the next steps. Please be reassured that eConsult is designed to pick up on any 'red flags' and divert you to a more acute service if you enter any information of concern, as eConsult is a 'routine' service.

The doctor was really helpful

It was really difficult to get an appointment. The doctor was helpful but I didnt get a further call back until 6.30 in the evening on the day of appointment saying I needed antibiotics but it was too late to collect prescription. I found this very disappointing after waiting all day for treatment.

We apologise that you were not satisifed with your recent experience. We are open 8am - 6.30pm daily (and earlier/later on some days). There are pharmacies in the city that stay open later and you should have been offered the option of where you would like your prescription sent to, for your convenience. We apologise for any miscommunication.

E-consultation

3 out of 5 stars
workingfeedback logo
I was very disappointed in my experience with using the e-consult facility. Thinking this would stop me having to make an appointment for the already busy GPs I filled in the form and sent a photo. Got a message to say I’d be contacted before 6:30pm the next day only to get a message the following day to say it would be within a week. Well, it wasn’t and I phoned to makes sure I was still on the list and was told I was and that I should be contacted by a doctor within the next week. Sadly, I received a phone call when I was in a meeting that I couldn’t leave. I called the surgery back and told them this and to ask if the doctor could call me again. This did not happen and I had to go to the treatment centre that weekend. I was told I needed my GP to do what was needed and I had to make an appointment. I feel that this could have been avoided had my e-consult been answered in a timely manner and I would not be left in pain for such a long time. Even a text or email to say that I had missed my one and only opportunity to speak with someone would have meant that I could have organised something sooner. I have tried to use the system to its best but found that I still had to make an unnecessary appointment that perhaps someone else could have needed more that day.

Thank you for your feedback. The autoresponse to econsult does advise 'contact' by 6.30pm the next day, but that does not mean from a clinical person. You should have received a text to advise you of a delay. We have seen a spike in econsults and are investing resource to manage the increasing demand, but this does take time. We do apologise for the inconvenience. Moving forward it is highly unlikely you will receive a phone call, unless the clinician dealing with your eConsult requires more information from you. If they do, they will try on more than one occasion to contact you as we appreciate you are probably using eConsult as have commitments during our 'usual' hours. We are changing our process for the better and hope that you are not deterred form using eConsult in the future - where we expect you to have a better experience.

I submitted an econsult, and as I was going throught the online form to give my symptoms, the form prompted me several times to call 111, or even 999 or to go to the A&E. This tells me that at least some of my symptoms would be cause for serious concern. I got an automated messages saying that they will come back to me within 24 hours. 3 days later they sent another message saying they were busy. A week later they sent another message to call them if I want to discuss anything. So I guess, I'll wait to see if I live or die....

Good Morning. eConsult is designed to signpost you to the most appropriate document. If you received a message to contact A&E or 111, the form should not allow you to continue - unless you amend answers. Please can you provide us the reference for us to escalate as a safety measure?
