Phone waiting times

The waiting times on the phone line when trying to get an appointment can be horrendous!! Number 24 in the queue and an hour on hold is just not on. You need more staff, more phone lines and more available appointments too

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

Blood tests are plain & simple; & call me suspicious, but I always get these feedback opportunities after a blood test, which seem to be booked very easily. I wish the same could be said about a standard Dr appointment. What on earth has happened over the years. Every time; "well if you phone at the crack of dawn" I have a feeling the more computer savvy, are sitting at their laptop or phones & sniping the appointments, before anyone else gets a look in. My mum 68, was at the Surgery on several occasions, 10 minutes after doors opening. "Ah sorry all appointments have gone" How is that even possible. I hear that the Hanway surgery is closing, & you'll be taking their patients on; you really shouldn't, as you can't cope with the quantity patients you have at present.

A Beacon of service delivery on behalf of the NHS

I have been a patient of the then Heyward Road Surgery for over 25 years in that time I have been blessed with the very finest of service and care from doctors and medical support staff to admin team that the NHS has to offer. In my own case having been diagnosed with Male Breast Cancer in 2006 I have had more than my share of the NHS front line services - the team have kept me on the road and the service having now grown to near empire size hasn't faltered one bit - as a visitor more recently to all of the practices I can vouch for a level of service which remains unsurpassed. Keep up the good work.

Almost impossible to get an appointment

The staff are very polite and helpful but it took me 4 dasy to get an appointment to be seen on the day. That was calling you twice a day. Really frustrating and I had a pretty bad chest infection, with asthma.

Thank you for your feedback, we are currently working hard to reduce our 'Do Not Attends,' in October at Kingston Crescent 135 appointments were not attended, this is a total of lost clinician time of 55.3 hours or 2.3 weeks, an average cost of £1,729. If these had been cancelled more appointments would have been available to others.
