Requested review

My appointment was cancelled on the day it was due. A link was given to book a new appointment but these were 2 weeks away and no good as my B12 would be 2 weeks overdue by then. I rang and was offered an appointment this same day at 3.50 and accepted after the the lady checked she could book me in. So I left work 2 hours early to get there. Upon arrival I was told they had no idea why I was booked in at this time as there was no one available to give the injection. So I had wasted my time travelling down and now had to make up 2 hours at work and work later all week all for nothing. The last at reception booked me in a couple of days later so I had to come down again and take a longer lunch to accommodate it and make up more lost time at work.

Unhappy

After several texts from the surgery I booked an appointment for my flu and Covid vaccines. I attended just before my allocated time to find a long queue outside.. That was not unexpected but people in the queue were saying they didn’t have appointments. They were just told to come between 6pm and 7pm. Why are we given appointments when it doesn’t matter. I will be going to the Pharmacy in future. I am nearly 80 years old and find it tiring to be waiting about outside in the cold and dark.

Thank you for leaving feedback, I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed. We generally book appointments as a guide, as we have a certain amount of vaccines. If these appointments are not fully booked, or we have a surplus of vaccines then we may tell patients to come along. We also cannot control whether people are turning up early for their appointments.

We have received lots of positive feedback around our new Anima system and we have been able to increase capacity, of course we still have limited resources. The earlier in the day that you submit an Anima request, the more likely you are to get an appointment.

Injections

From reception to having injections it was so easy. The staff had to put up with a lot of difficult patients. They were so professional and treated everyone the same. They deserve a medal or pay rise.

Cervical screening

Easy to book. Appointment more or less on time. Local with free parking. Nurse was gentle and the cervical screening procedure seems to have improved a lot in the last 5 years in terms of levels of discomfort, compared to c.15 years ago !!
