Blood test

I came for a blood test, for which I had not been told the reason. However, the nurse who dealt with me was warm and friendly and happy to explain why I had been called. I have to say that the reception staff that I have deal with are always happy to help and are generally very cheerful, even though many of the patients are miserable and moaning!

Pharmacist phone call for meds review. Three of the meds prescribed by dermatologist at St Mary’s. She cancelled one of them, I can understand that she felt I didn’t need it on repeat however, Dr Cooper asked me to use the Efudix on 9/12 appointment again (I had some left) but I have now lost the application instructions which she quizzed me on but as they were not straightforward, I used to refer to the prescription on the app to get them as opposed to trying to remember and it’s now deleted!
Secondly, when I last saw the cardiologist for Paroxysmal AF. he said that at some point they would consider anticoagulants but that would be after a thorough consultation with GP and not to be rushed into it. The last GP who talked to me about it was Dr Stradling (very thorough and clear) The pharmacist told me she thought I should be on them and while I have every respect for her, I replied that I would feel happier doing so after a face to face with a GP as I haven’t had an episode of AF (possibly since 2017). At this point I like to think we were cut off as the call was terminated with no explanation after I made this request. So now I don’t know what to do next.

When a medication is stopped and removed from repeats this is best practice and ensures patient safety, it would not be intended to make it more difficult for you to be able to refer to the dosage, we are sorry that in this instance that we have removed your point of reference. It is of course your decision if you would prefer to have consultation with a doctor prior to a specific medication being changed or stopped. We will share your comments with our team and make changes where possible.

Took me 7 weeks to finally get an appointment after numerous attempts of online links and after the appointment still haven't heard back from yourselves apart from this text, absolute shambles, before your surgery merged you were fantastic, now terrible, no wonder people don’t bother with the doctors get checked, it’s a disgrace.

We would advise that currently all areas of the health service have capacity issues and demand is often more than we can safely provide. The Practice will only contact with test results if there is follow-up action required if you do have ongoing concerns please do recontact and we will assist you.
