Following my recent experience walking in asking to see the doctor I was very impressed with the general response of the staff and doctors. I thought the request was promptly passed to the doctor and the doctor promptly responded. At my first experience the doctor called me up in a matter of minutes whilst I was still at the car park to book me for a appointment in about an hours time. My second experience was that prompt as well. On both occasions I was sorted under an hour. I thought to say its a great improvement.

Had to visit for a routine 3 monthly booster. Appointment for 10 am. Arrived 9.45 am and on way home at 9.58 am. How easy was that. No problem making the appointment either. All in all - Excellent.

Getting gp appointments

I find it incredibly frustrating not being able to make gp appointments in person at the surgery especially when it is for something that is reasonably routine like medicine reviews. I am now in the position that I can't order meds that I need because that medicine needs a review. I can never get to see the GPS who know me and my complex medical conditions best.

Thank you for your feedback. With the ever-increasing demands on our services, it is simply not possible or, indeed, appropriate for all our patients to see a GP, particularly for urgent problems. All of our Nurse Practitioners and Paramedic Practitioners are fully clinically trained and supported by an on-site duty doctor if they need any assistance whatsoever.

It's very hard to get an appointment even it's emergency. I always had to wait more than 30 minutes to get someone on line. I think it's far better if patients can contact Crookhorn surgery directly and book appointment.

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

Inconsistancy

Never sure whether a visit will go well or not. sometimes the prescription is wrong or sent to wrong chemist and the mistake is not discovered for 7 days when collecting. Wait a week to see the Dr. and appointment is cancelled . Instead of offering an alternative the patient has to try and ring for a new appointment. The staff are very good

Surgery is too busy- not enough doctors

Can never get a routine appointment, always difficult to get advise as you can only phone at certain times now and when you do it’s super busy and you can’t get through, not enough doctors and appointments at this surgery. It has become very stressful.

Thank you for your feedback, we are currently working hard to reduce our 'Do Not Attends,' in October at Kingston Crescent 135 appointments were not attended, this is a total of lost clinician time of 55.3 hours or 2.3 weeks, an average cost of £1,729. If these had been cancelled more appointments would have been available to others.

Getting through to the surgery

It is very difficult when like most people who work full time to ring the surgery as you cannot sit on the phone in a queue and list to a recorded massage saying you are number 18 in the queue.
I really do appreciate that everyone is very busy but come on!
I recently had a medication review & was told if I did not hear from the surgery to ring and make an appointment but I am unable to spend up to 40 minutes in a queue while at work. Then when I get in from work the surgery is closed.
