Lots of room for improvement. Getting to the surgery is the problem. Once there the service is usually good although it could be much better. But getting an appointment?!! What are you thinking about?

Thank you for your feedback, we are currently working hard to reduce our 'Do Not Attends,' in October at Kingston Crescent 135 appointments were not attended, this is a total of lost clinician time of 55.3 hours or 2.3 weeks, an average cost of £1,729. If these had been cancelled more appointments would have been available to others.

Staff and Doctors could not have been more helpful, very good service, only complaint would be the way appointments are made, the telephone system waiting time is dire, I was on hold for 37 minutes before speaking to someone, then was cut off. Went in to the surgery where the receptionist was very helpful and sorted everything out for me. Please can you not go back to the old fashion system of ,turn up take a number and sit and wait to be seen, at least that way the patient will see a doctor on the day that is required, and not in three weeks time.

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

Making a routine Appointment

4 out of 5 stars
workingfeedback logo
The way to make appointments has changed and now you can spend a very long time calling and calling to eventually get through to be told there are no appointments available and to try again on the online booking, which I did 6 nights consecutively with no appointments available, after 2 weeks of calls and checking online I decided to pop into the surgery I was there by 9am but again no appointments available??? It is the most frustrating way of trying to book a non urgent appointment, I eventually had to explain to the receptionist why I needed to be seen (highly embarrassing in front of a room full of people) piles was one and policeman's foot the other, so I was given a piece of paper to self refer to physio which was fine and I already have an appointment, but for the piles there was no emergency appointments for that day or routine appointments coming up?? Eventually I asked for a telephone consultation which at this point was granted, gp called and booked me straight in to see the nurse that day!! All was fantastic with the service I received from the receptionist, and the drs and nurse, yet trying to just get to be seen in the first place was a terrible system that really needs to be looked at? Maybe a walk in clinic at some point in the day might be useful? Or a different way to book appointments at lease.

Was made to feel embarrassed about my eczema which was purpose of calling and was told more than once that my condition was badly managed. As a working mum I was seeking advice to soothe my condition - not reinforcement that it was my own fault it was so bad. I was hardly looked at during consultation - he was more interested in checking on the computer.

Bit of a wait to be put through to the call centre - I wont lie ! I was 26 in the queue - so 40 mins later got put through to the Call Centre ! Staff there are always nice and friendly.

I was given an appointment for a telephone triage call by Dr. Mannings - the following Tue - so exactly a week later !

Quite surprised that I would have to wait that long - mine wasn't urgent - but even so !

Dr. Manning was very friendly and knew what I had originally phoned up about - so good I didn't have to repeat myself; in my case I was feeling very tired and I had requested for full bloods to be taken. Blood request form promptly written - left at the GP surgery. I then had my bloods taken at Queen Alexandra Hospital - (where I work). I was aware however, there was a 2-3 week wait at the GP surgery for an appointment to have my bloods taken !

So I had my bloods taken on a Wednesday - and by the Friday received a very nice and friendly voice message on my mobile from Dr. Mannings - so a very prompt service - GP surgery and the labs at QAH !

My iron count was a little bit on the low side - which would account for how I'd been feeling.

Dr. Mannings was very informative as to the best course of action - and possible side effects - so could not fault Dr. Mannings - HOWEVER - trying to be proactive about your health is no mean task these days !

To get my husband to have his bloods checked - bit of a MOT - just NOT going to happen - especially when he would probably have a long long wait just to speak to someone at the Call Centre !

Sorry just being completely honest !

Mine was a simply low iron count - BUT very often to get to the root of a medical problem you need a full blood count - it tells so much but when that means nearly waiting for 3/4 of an hour on the phone....followed by being contacted the following week - SO many people could easily think 'oh - forget it' and never fully investigate their symptoms !

I do appreciate GP surgeries are so very stretched .

But it does feel like Mission Impossible to see a Dr these days !

Would be a lot better if it would be more appointments available ahead, just struggling to get to the GP not in emergency case. Thats how some issues getting as chronic and long time problems, most of the times just giving up and trying to get better just by myself

Thank you for your feedback. With the ever-increasing demands on our services, it is simply not possible or, indeed, appropriate for all our patients to see a GP, particularly for urgent problems. All of our Nurse Practitioners and Paramedic Practitioners are fully clinically trained and supported by an on-site duty doctor if they need any assistance whatsoever.

Blood test

5 out of 5 stars
workingfeedback logo
I had a blood test. The experience was very pleasant. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The only problem I have had in the past is that one is not able to get through on the telephone very easily. Phone is always engaged and this is very frustrating. Normally I have to wait on the phone for at least 20 minutes and then I get an automated response saying that due to high demand I will have to call again. Last experience I had to wait 40 minutes then it cut off. When a patient is sick, and have to wait on the phone for so long, one feels demoralised. I was almost in tears that last time - just waiting on the phone only to be cut off after 40 minutes.
