Polite, understanding and professional

The receptionist that dealt with my query was very helpful, polite, understanding and professional. After determining that the Practice Nurse would be able to deal with my problem, she arranged for me to return to the practice an hour later. The Nurse saw me straight away and dealt with my concerns. She was very proficient and showed genuine concern. I felt the advice and instruction she offered and was sound, and left the surgery a happy bunny!

Because I always have a good service with jabs and emergency appointments, yearly heart checks but trying to get a routine appointment even just a phone call been trying on and off for 3months. I just need a stay on my right knee always had a bit of arthritis but feels like bone rubbing on bone.

Thank you for your kind words and feedback. We are sorry to hear you are struggling to access a routine appointment. You may well already be aware, but to clarify - you can contact us via phone at 10am Monday to Friday - but we also release appointments using the online services at 7pm, for the following day. You can also use the eConsult system (we recommend you visit our website close to 7.30am when it opens) and you will get a response with advice or referral to a clinician fairly promptly.

Thank you for your feedback. It is hard with limited information to comment in specific detail. We are doing a great deal of work on assisting patients to navigate our appointment system - a video guide is due out shortly. We also need to impress that a GP is not always the most appropriate clinician, so you may navigated to another team member that is more appropriate.

The best way to request medication is via your SystmOnline record. There is a clear audit trail. We are currently turning requests around within 72 hours. You can request a week before your medication is due. If you find that things are taking longer without explanation (i.e. we have not text you to say a review is due or if any monitoring tests are required) then we would encourage to contact us for further investigation.

This blood test was conducted to investigate the cause of a minor stroke resulting in me being hospitalised briefly.
2 weeks later after my stroke, having not received any further coms from the hospital, I attempted to get an appointment for a routine GP discussion about follow up tests etc.
On calling at 10:00 on numerous mornings no appointments were available. An attempt online at 19:00 had the same result. After several days without success I attempted an e consult. The text reply suggested up to a further 10 days wait.
Having suffered a stroke all I wanted was to talk to a medical professional to reassure me and inform me if I could return to work and exercise. After another week The blood test was offered to move my case forward.
The lack of available appointment's for another week did nothing for my stress levels or my recovery !

We are sorry to hear that you did not receive communications from the hospital. If the hospital state you will get follow up tests / appointments, they will contact you directly. Unfortunately it's not something we are involved with or can comment on.

However, we note your comments about appointments. You have endeavoured to follow the usual pattern for a routine appointment, and we do often recommend eConsult as we can direct it to the most appropriate team member to deal with your request - this may not be a GP.

We do advise patients of a 10 day response time for eConsults though in the last two months we have worked to bring this down to 72 hours consistently. We have invested in additional staff and have also reviewed our staffing patterns to try and ensure this is achievable. At present we are averaging around a 4-5 day wait as we see improvements being sustained. We would rather over estimate than under estimate whilst we gather the data to be confident that we can give very specific turnaround times but we will review whether we can reduce it to more accurately reflect the time.

We do hope that you have since had a response to your eConsult and the hospital have sent you the communications you expected.

I attended Crookhorn for a blood test and I did have a query that I had been trying to sort for a couple of months with my own surgery. The lady (staff member) on the desk was amazing and so very helpful, she resolved my problem. All staff were courteous, friendly, welcoming and professional.
Well done all for a smooth east visit. If you can travel to surgeries do it, it’s a very welcome change.

Appointments that are never on time, can overrun due to the nature of the problem. I was not impressed to be made to look stupid in front of other patient s !! For 4 mins as had to go back to car for a face mask as none were available in surgery. Already in text suggest you read it.

Sadly it was not a good experience, in fact I came home feeling very low. Firstly you asked me to travel to Cosham which is not easy at 81 without a car. I live where I do partly for convenience to Crookhorn surgery. At my appointment I felt the doctor was very disconnected to me and made me feel like a bother when I tried to discuss an ongoing tummy issue in case it was connected to the itching I had developed. He as good as dismissed me. The whole system at Crookhorn has gone so far downhill it’s scary!!!!

Appointments are offered across our sites, for some patients this works well, but for some this does not work. Please be assured that you can decline appointments at other sites and wait for an appointment at your preferred site, this could however lead to a longer wait time.
