Crookhorn Surgery

The doctor who called me was really approachable and I felt really listened to. She was able to answer all my questions and came up with a course of action that was clear and left me feeling less anxious and confident of the next steps available to me.

Friendly and effective.

Using the portal to request a repeat of a prescription made in 2018, my request was rejected. During a separate e-consultation for my psoriasis, the GP advised that I make a routine appointment for the BP and statins issue. On trying this I was unable for several days to get the appointment with a GP. Following several ‘high call levels’ responses and automatically cut off, I eventually got through to the Portsdown appointments section at 10.40am and asked the person for an appointment. I was told the appointments were arranged on a daily basis but that no appointments were now available for the day. When I tried again the next day the same happened. I told the lady that I had only 2 weeks of pills left and needed more before they ran out. She could only advise me to ‘keep trying’. As appointments were available with nurses for bloods, and given my NHS app said bloods were due shortly I set an appointment for bloods in the hope that, whilst getting these done, the nurse could set a GP appointment to deal with the results and associated BP pills and statins. I attended the bloods appointment but the nurse could only advise that I set up a medication review appointment at reception. The Receptionist advise that medication review appointments were arranged on a weekly basis on Thursday pm and Friday am. I had to return to Crookhorn Surgery to arrange this and was given an appointment for a week ahead (Thursday). I find the difficulties arranging GP appointments a disgrace. Even a telephone ‘triage’ consultation would have been fine but it was nigh on impossible to get the GP appointment.

The person taking the blood was very polite and efficient and the receptionist was extremely helpful.

Arriving and signing in was easy. The nurse called me by name she was very friendly I had diabetic blood test. All sorted quickly. I had done my own blood pressure which is easy to do.

I was very pleased, when I attended the surgery for a Shingles jab, that Dr Whittamore took unscheduled time to discuss my concerns re: CKD. Recent abnormal creatinine levels, in my urine and blood tests, pointed toward kidney disease. Dr Whittamore put the test results into context, but did revise my medication to address the swelling in my feet and ankles. I am grateful for his advice and explanation, which put my mind at rest.

I was forced to ask for an e-consult from MY surgery as after 2 weeks the results of my blood test were not available via "systmonline" and although they had been received by the surgery I couldn't be told the results by phoning the enquiry line. I specifically asked for the results to be released to "systmonline" I did not ask for a phone consultation as I had been told by surgery enquiries "No follow-up required". A week later I get a text saying I would be called that morning by one of the doctors-not only did I have to remain available to take the call it came from a surgery I have never attended and a doctor who seemed unfamiliar with my medical history. She told me what my Cholesterol level was which was my main concern and though I asked several times what the results for other tests were all she said was they were fine/ok/normal. I wanted to know the actual results which I should have been able to see on-line. Now it seems the "systmonline" facility is no longer accessible.

I was met by the receptionist who helped me with a difficulty, she was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, then the nurse was bright and cheerful. In all it was a very good experience.

The nurse ticked all the boxes of excellent care and service. However I am very frustrated and feel let down by with the way of getting appointments and not getting to speak to an actual person and left going round and around on the answer machine. The online procedure also needs to be adjusted so you don't need to keep going back so you are not directed to A&E and request to get a doctor to speak to you.

My experience was a pleasant one, I was received very nicely, the doctor had a lot of patience to explain to me what I have to do .. the place is very clean. I'm satisfied.

I received a call from a delightful GP as requested who was attentive and listened to my concern with compassion. I was treated with respect and my health issues is being managed.

When requested to make appointment for a vaccination an appointment was available at the Crookhorn surgery, the procedure was completed quickly and efficiently with no unnecessary delay or inconvenience, very much appreciated!

The HCA I saw carried out her work efficiently and in a friendly fashion.
I could not have asked for anything more.
