This is not my local surgery but had an appointment time available so I went there. The staff were friendly, tell you where to wait as the nurses have a separate area and then make sure a limited number of people are in each area. The nurse (Lisa) then took time to listen to my concerns and reassured me on a few things .

Traumatic
Actually getting through to speak to a human is the worst part of the experience. If you lucky enough not to actually be cut off because of high call volume, and are prepared to listen to the awful recording until your place in the queue is reached, then the helpful humans are excellent. Having to sit through it all over again, if cut off, or having pressed the wrong button is annoying.

Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

All of our Nurse Practitioners and Paramedic Practitioners are fully clinically trained and supported by an on-site duty doctor if they need any assistance whatsoever.

Flu Jab.
I was originally told on the phone that I didn't need an appointment to have the flu jab. I was told to come between 1 and 2pm. This was my first time of having it. When I got there about 1.20 I was told that a Doctor was going to do it but I would have to wait until 2pm for that. So I decided to go home and go back on another day.This time I rang up to check that it was ok to go along. Yes, but this time I had to go before 12. I went back and was asked if I had appointment I said no. I finally was told that I would have a Nurse do it for me which she did.

I had been putting off my smear test but finally plucked up the courage to book it at Crookhorn surgery. The nurse was very welcoming and put me at ease straight away.
