Neither good nor poor
Phone follow up
The surgery requested I make the appointment to get results of tests, yet the person on the phone had no idea of the purpose of the call so I had to tell them why they were calling and have a guess at what results I wanted! Results that were unexpected (B12 good, despite being mainly vegan) were dismissed because not problematic medically -could they be wrong? Could they be someone else’s? Also I was a bit alarmed that the person suggested I would need statins in 3-5 years as a ‘normal’ part of aging, rather than offering advice as to how I could avoid such an outcome. The call didn’t leave me feeling very confident of the quality of the service to be honest.

Sympathetic Consultation
My appointment was with Dr. Prya. Although patients are encouraged to only discuss one subject per visit, I needed to discuss a range of health issues. The doctor was sympathetic to my needs and we explored a number of issues affecting my health. I was grateful and happy with the agreed way forward.

Reassuring trip to GP
It did take over a month to get an appointment but I didn’t consider it super-urgent so was happy to wait. The lady on reception is so friendly, she explained how to check in yourself when it’s busy but was also happy to do it. Also very helpful with booking follow-up tests.
Dr Duncan was also excellent, listened carefully and was kind. I felt very reassured when I left the appointment.

Still can’t get it right
I’ve only been with the surgery a short while but in that time they have made so many mistakes with my tablets, as of last week when for some reason they upped my dose to 100mg instead of 50mg but I didn’t realise till I got home and then I’m the one that’s supposed to pay again for your mistake so thanks for that. I’ve now got 100mg tablets because I’m not paying for your mistake. Let’s hope next time someone can actually look at the pic of the tablets I sent in and can give me the right ones

Very poor
6 week postpartum check up
A stated above I attended my 6 week postpartum check. I found this appointment very insensitive and more of a “data” collection. The GP I saw was very cold, unfriendly and most of all uninterested in anything I was saying, very unbothered in the whole appointment, actually. I found the appointment pointless and basically a tick box exercise. After having a traumatic birth and ongoing feeding issues with my baby I would expect more of a human interaction from the GP. Actually I don’t think he gave me eye contact once. Very disappointing considering our issues with UK maternity care at the moment. In fact I will be considering another GP practice after this experience. I even asked the GP for some quick advice on my child’s rash to be told “the rash disappears so it’s not life threatening”. Awful experience for such a sensitive time period. I hope other mothers have a better experience at St James Surgery. Luckily I’m used to such poor interactions here. Even the receptionists here are rarely friendly/happy to help. As stated very disappointing.

Spent so much time waiting for a call and was left a message to phone reception and when I did was given the run around, I hear colleages at work telling me good results from there doctors, and your service has gone down thd drain over the last 5 years all you say is go to minor injurys, and wasting tax payers money.
