St James' Surgery

All of my visits at St James have always been efficient and smooth. The last few visits have either been on time or early which I don’t experience much. Very friendly and approachable at the front deck and the nurses are very chatting and make you feel comfortable.

I received my shingles vaccination in an efficient and friendly manner.

My son had appointment on 7th of August. The doctor who was supposed to see my son came out and called the name but he called the name differently. I asked the doctor if it was was son but again he called out differet name. I thought it wasn’t us who he called out. I understand pronouncing a name can be tricky. I don’t expect anybody to call out your name exactly the same way. Because of this confusion I waited extra 20 minutes past my appointment time. I asked the receptionist and she asked the doctor. The doctor said he called out my son’s name and I said it wasn’t me. Why didn’t the doctor double checked it as I was the only one with kid in the waiting room. My son was already agitated by the heat and screaming and crying. The long wait made it worse. The receptionist very rudely said I will be called after the next patient. A simple sorry or a smile would make a big differene. I have dealt with the receptionist before and she was rude. I have never made a complaint like this before. This time it was really hurtful. The doctor did say sorry at the end of the appointment. As a staff please be nice to the patients, you don’t have to be smiling all the time. I know you have a tough job. A simple sorry wouldn’t kill anyone. Please be kind. Thank you

I arrived at The surgery 10 minutes late for my appointment because of traffic. I told the lady on reception I was sorry for being late, she said that I had to rebook another appointment. I then told her that I was suffering from shoulder chest and arm pain, but she wouldn’t listen. I then went to Buckland Hospital then I was referred to the William Harvey. Thankfully everything was fine for the lady on reception could’ve been more compassionate.

I asked for an urgent appointment on a Monday and got one within a couple of hours, very prompt service indeed, thank you.

A lovely doctor, who actually listened and helped me sort out my problems.

Perfect, friendly nurse, puts you at ease, on time.

Very professional from the start with good communication by email and messaging and in the surgery the nurse was very clearly spoken and explained what was happening with the blood checks and what they are for.
Faultless.
I left with a plan the nurse came up with to check my blood pressure morning and night for a week to see if my tablet for the blood pressure was working.

Surgery well presented. Reception staff friendly and welcoming. Nurse very helpful and knowledgeable. Took time and patience to explain everything. Dr Holwerda, as always, a unique and excellent practitioner. Friendly, supportive manner with prompt medical intervention when needed. My sincere wishes for her well deserved retirement.

GP I visited was incredible. Gave me time, listened with empathy and created an action plan for moving forwards.

My doctor, Dr Pia, listens to how you're feeling and takes everything into consideration. It doesn't feel like she judges you and talks to you about what you would like as well as giving helpful advice.

I had a call about 20 minutes after completing an e-consult online, the surgery is very efficient and easy to get through to a doctor.

I was very grateful for my emergency appointment with Dan. He is very professional but made me feel at ease.

Didn't listen to me, upset me greatly, as I had an appointment 6th and nothing discussed, to get a very unfriendly call that I was not expecting on the afternoon of the 8th.

The practitioner who carried out my check was very polite, friendly and helpful.
