Blood test

This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery

Last Friday (9/5) I had a Blood Test at Kingston Crescent Surgery and I had a worry about the needle used to extract my blood out is whether a new and unused because I am always to be shown and informed in front of me by a healthcare assistant or registered nurse before taking a blood test. And the blood test was run so fast and I was not informed about when the blood test result will be available.

Thank you for your feedback. We will always use new needles and usually prepare the kit whilst the patient is in the room. If you get in touch with us we can put a note in your records to be clearer with this moving forward, as the room may not always be set up for it to be easily visible. Blood test results are typically 3 days - some tests can take longer. Please visit our website for more information on test result timeframes.

Blood test

Went for blood test and as usual staff were pleasant and helpful, the nurse made an appointment for me to see a doctor so that I could have my covid vaccination whilst I was at surgery which was very much appreciated.

Please note that our Care Navigators (who answer the phones) are trained by our Lead GP Partner and ask specific questions to ensure they book the most appropriate appointment for you needs, or signpost you to be most suitable service. Whilst we are reviewing our digital access, and hope to make improvements in the Autumn, the care navigation will remain.

Efficient, understanding

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

I can confirm that having been a patient at Cosham Park House Surgery since the closure of the previous location I have always found the medical and nursing staff very efficient, understanding and capable given the sometimes difficult situations that they are expected to work under and as dictated by Governments and other Authorities.

Very good - quick and efficient

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

I was very happy with the general arrangements. The online booking system seems to have been improved, was straightforward to use and worked well. The appointment and conduct of the blood test was very good - quick and efficient with friendly staff.
The response - a change in medication dose - was communicated via text and the change was made quickly and directly with the pharmacy.
However.....there was no consultation about the change. I just received a text message that the blood test showed that an increase in dose was required and that it was going to happen. I did not get any say in it.
I do trust the doctor to make the correct judgement but I think I should be involved in or at least consulted in person about changes to my medication. A simple phone call would have done.
