Going the extra mile

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

All 3 recent appointments were very focused. Both nurses made me feel at ease, one explaining the necessary procedure and the other going the extra mile, consulting a Doctor and making a follow up appointment for a different issue the following week. Both nurses listened to what I said and were very professional, answering any questions I had appropriately. All 3 appointments were good experiences.

I was very impressed with the help & assistance given from the reception team in dealing with my initial enquiry & also prompt attention given to seeing both the nurse & doctors dealing with my appointment, also my thanks to the receptionist of whom I believe is named Alex who was very polite, informative, helpful & a credit to the surgery.

Lift'a'geddon (stuck in the lift!)

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

I had to use two separate lift platforms to get to the exam room. One (reception) has the controls at one end, which makes the return journey near impossible with the buttons behind you (out of reach). This coming amidst a significant trial of appointment and assessment by text message just added to frustration levels. The reception staff were, this time, willing to help, but surprisingly had no clue of what to do. Surely I'm not the only wheelchair user to attend without a PA or family member?

Clearly the practice needs to re-think their lift procedures with respect to wheelchair users, and to urgently have the controls altered to make them more accessible. On a side note these lifts are not very safe - I sustained a fractured vertebrae some years ago in PC World on a similar lift.

Thank you for your feedback. We operate lifts at two of our sites, all of which are Part "M" of the building regulations compliant.

Design and build was carried out by an approved Artico lifts contractor.

Regarding safety concerns, as per the Health and Safety Act and BS En 81-1 :1998 BS En 81-2 1998 and BS EN 81-41 all complied with and followed for installation.

Lifts operate in a safe controlled manor and are subject to 6 monthly service visits along with LOLER, insurance inspected and any points raised on any servicing or inspection are dealt with in deadlines given and where unable too due other factor i.e. parts on back order lift is removed from service and alternatives are provided.

Consideration was undertaken with the design and installation of all lifts across sites, being mindful of ability of persons accessing the lift whilst adhering to compliance, due to the vast number of end users with various requirements for access a once size fits all isn’t reasonably practical.

Please be assured staff are always available on request to assist any patient when using our lifts.
