Shingles vaccination

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

My appt was changed from Kingston Crescent, which is good as it is closer and easier for me to get to.
However the doctor who was due to give the vaccination was also doing the emergency phone calls. I waited for 80 minutes beyond my appt time. I understand about prioritising and in fact have benefited from this myself in the past.
I would have preferred to be told a more realistic wait time, rather than what the check in screen said.
I could then have gone for a walk round or got a coffee and come back, or rearranged the appt.
I have a spinal cord injury and became very uncomfortable sitting or standing for so long.
The appt lasted about a minute, so maybe could have been fitted in between phone calls?

You are quite right that the GP 'on duty' is taking urgent calls and has to prioritise work, and this can lead to a small wait - but their clinics are built so that this should not be long. 80 minutes is exceptional and we would like to find out how, in case it is something we can mitigate in the future.

Head dressing and Flu like symptoms after covid

I have found GPS assessment via mobile phone good ... although a little concerned about persistent cough and nose blowing to date (some time after have covid).
The head dressing at Somerstown by the nursing staff is excellent...they are so helpful and jolly.

Recent appointment

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

We waited a long time unfortunately (over 20 minutes) and during that time my mum hit extremely anxious and was attempting to leave the surgery in sheer panic.

Once we got to see the nurse involved it was fine and the tetanus vaccination was actually very quick and the lady was pleasant. Thank you.

Thank you for your feedback. Whilst we tailor nursing appointment times in line with the specific procedure that is being booked, sometimes delays are unavoidable. We apologise that in this instance you had a 20 minute delay and it caused your mother to become anxious. You can always speak to the receptionist to see if there is anything we can do to help. It is not always possible but we may be able to offer an alternative waiting area or some distraction, or we may be able to call you when your appointment is due so that you may get some fresh air.

Called every day for. 5 weeks no reply answer or always told to Ring back. When I did ask for an appointment I explained I was suicidal from it all the receptionist said OK ring back tomorrow. Disgusted. The doctor on the other hand when I finally got to see him was good. But your receptionists are rude, invasive and clearly don't care. I shall be putting this into writing with whoever is regulating authority as the receptionist needs dismissing. It's my understanding calls are recorded and I will give them dates and times this call took place to verify she lacked a complete lack of duty of care and so on.

Very quiet in reception which was nice. I moved seats as a couple sat right next to me even though all other seats were available.
Blood pressure machine was not logged in but reception fixed this.
Running 15 mins late but this wasn't an issue.
Nurse Judith was lovely and put me at ease. She made me an appointment for blood pressure and also gave me vaccines that popped up as over due on my profile. She made not dread coming back!
