Nurse was lovely

This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery

Called about problems I had, was given a sick note and asked to come in for blood tests, made appointment for next day, arrived at surgery 5 minutes before my appointment and was seen on time, nurse was lovely when taking bloods. Got results within 2 days and prescribed folic acid. Prescription was at my allocated pharmacy when I got there.

Thank you for your feedback. We have had to find a way of still seeing patients that potentially could have COVID, but do need assessment, this requires those patients to be kept separate to minimise the risk to themselves and others. These facilities are only available at 2 of our sites due to location of rooms, therefore you will be asked to travel to those sites. Although this can be an inconvenience and does require waiting outside, this does mean that you can be seen when an examination is required face to face.

The usual excellent service

Excellent. The only issue was that I booked an appointment online and was given one for a Doctor, However it turned out to be a telephone appointment and I needed a face to face one. There was no information on the online procedure to say that it was a telephone appointment.
Other than that the usual excellent service.

One going medication

The 'old' system with reception made appointments, with more than one doctor in house worked well ! But since things have moved on - not seen as an improvement - dont like the 8o/c - 2o/c phone in arrangement, not very efficient.
Recently my wife has had some brilliant attention from our doctors and nurses, so glad to have a service better than some !

Due to the demand on GP services, we have needed to make changes in the way appointments are booked, this has led to an increase in the number of patients we can assess and help on a daily basis. Not all patients need to be seen by a doctor, we therefore ensure that we triage to enable the appropriate clinician assesses a patient.

Wonderful service

Due to staff sickness the appointment was cancelled. I was concerned that I would not be able to get through to book another appointment for my elderly mother. However the lovely receptionist called me to make an appointment. Treatment is always very good with helpful staff.

We had to make the difficult decision to have a maximum number of calls that can be held at any one time, this was after receiving several complaints that the wait time was too long. Once we have reached maximum capacity the call will not connect and patients do need to call back. Unfortunately we are unable to find a solution that works for all patients.

I didnt have to wait long, the nurse made me feel at ease, everyone was polite and treated me as a person. The only slight criticism is that the receptionist didnt attend to me straight away and was left waiting for a short while but she was very nice and probably busy.

Once you eventually navigate past the econsult forms which can take 5-15 days to be reviewed, a text message is sent to say you need a face to face and you can now wait another 5-15 days to be seen is shocking process.
Care navigators are not always professional or very caring or understanding.
Very non patient friendly, not treating people and the condition they are presenting with as individuals especially those with complex problems is not always considered or reviewed.
Once you do get to see someone you are an emotional wreck and feel like you problem could have been less of a problem if action was taken sooner.
Pain, discomfort and distress can be avoided with more care.
