Rude call handlers

This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery

The staff who work for the Portsdown Group call centre are unprofessional and rude. I called 2 different lines to try and ask for help, to which one told me the line I want isn’t available and they can’t do anything. And another line told me my prescription was not an emergency and it was my fault I had not put in for a prescription earlier when I couldn’t due to having to self isolate. I was spoken to with such disrespect. I will be moving doctors with immediate effect

Thank you for your feedback. It is important that patients choose the correct telephone line when calling the contact centre, this is to ensure that you queries are dealt with effectively and by those in the correct department. Receiving your prescription on time is also your responsibility, we have a strict list of medications that are urgent and are issued the same day, these are medications that patients cannot be without, therefore it is important that requests are put in early enough to be processed. Although we understand that patients often have reasons for late requests, we cannot be held responsible for this.

Blood test

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

The nurse was very helpful and kind as I previously had to cancel my diabetes appointment due to having a chest infection, so not only did I have a blood test she did all the other test needed for my diabetes review saving me having to go back to doctors. Couldn't thank her enough.

Blood test

This is a review for Paulsgrove Surgery

The appointment was quick and efficient, the lady was very nice and was aware I don’t like blood tests but she was very quick and talked me through it and it was over really quickly. Can’t fault anyone and it was a good experience- despite the fact it was a blood test haha.

Somerstown Surgery

I was given an appointment by text for blood tests with less than 2 days notice. When I attended I was told it was a fasting test so another appointment was arranged. As I had tests at the hospital the next day I rang the surgery to cancel the 2nd appointment and said the results were available from hospital records. I then had a phone call from the surgery to rearrange my missed blood test appointment.

Recent experience

Because I'm pregnant in 16 weeks and the doctor give me antibiotic and tablets for my vagina and is not infection is looks like thrush I speak with my midwife and she says to no take any antibiotics before the results I can't use even the tablets because I was bit irritated (red)And I tell her my symptoms as well Now I have to go again for another prescription. I was very confused and disappointed and I didn't treat my thrush at all If was infection my symptoms was bad but I feel myself with normal symptoms.

Appointment

I've had the same problem for 4 years and nothing seems to be progressing. No diagnosis, no referral, no medication which is helping. I get told I have symptoms but nothing is wrong with me?! How can nothing be wrong with me when I have fluid of whatever sort going down my throat causing the burning sensation & it also makes me sick. No one wants to properly listen to help reduce my symptoms or referral me for a second opinion.

We understand that it is frustrating when you have on-going issues, however it is not always possible to find a diagnosis, however our clinicians will continue to make every effort to ensure that everything is tried to seek a diagnosis. It is important that patients understand that often it is difficult to refer, as their are strict guidelines for a referral to be met and often advice and guidance is gained as an alternative from Secondary care.
