My phone consultation with a GP

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

I had to phone consecutively over two days to be able to speak with a Doctor. The GP I spoke with understood that I was in pain and was finding walking very difficult especially on my right knee, hip and ankle but also I had nagging pain on both shoulders and my left knee and left hip. After further discussions with the doctor, I suggested Naproxen as being very effective when last I had an arthritic attack.
I had been under the Rheumatology department for several years prior to the pandemic lock down.

Flu jab

I went for a flu jab and was told I needed a MMR and tetanus, I did not know so well done giving 3 injections at same time.

Absolutely excellent. Incredible helpful receptionist, nurse and Dr dealing with me although I had no appt. I had gone in to register another blood pressure test as requested by previous Dr as was showing very high 24 hours ago.

Dismissive receptionist lacking understanding and empathy

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

The receptionist left me feeling why I’d bothered to ask the best way to make an appointment, she was cold, dismissive and impatient. The nurse I saw was wonderful thank goodness otherwise my experience would’ve been awful. Hey ward road has always been my practice since birth now you cannot ever get an appointment I cannot remember the last time I had an appointment there.

I was seen promptly. An appropriate referral was done. I did feel there was minimal interaction between the doctor and myself but it fulfilled my expectations. I didn't see any reception staff during my visit.

I have been trying for months now to even to speak to a person rather than an automated machine. Only recently I have at last got through to a practitioner (not a Doctor) to get an appointment for a lump on my hand and head. It has taken all this time what could have been a simple procedure is now to me an ugly scar on the back of my hand for which I blame the practice. I also have a lump in my head which has prevented me from having my hair coloured as previous.
