This is a review for Paulsgrove Surgery

This was my 1st appointment at this surgery, very professional, happy with treatment received all good.
Trying to get an appointment is a different matter, 4 weeks for this one as I work full time and can’t call at 10am for a non emergency appointment but finally got an appointment in the end.

Visit to complete medical for D.V.L.A. Driving license.

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

Visit was fine, well laid out and staff polite and efficient. However a bit way out considering I couldn’t drive at the time. What was wrong with my local Cosham service. Also G.P.s had my application for 3 weeks, leaving me unable to drive. I am very dependent on my car, as my wife does not drive.

Despite finding the whole online booking system and difficulty actually speaking to a member of staff, when I attended my appointment the process was prompt and the nurse was very friendly and informative.
Taking of my blood painless and not at all stressful.

My appointment at Kingston Crescent

This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery

Efficient friendly service. I didn't have to wait long and my appointment was very quick and very helpful.

However if you are referring to a recent telephone consultation, I felt there was a miscommunication as as HCA didn't listen at time and felt I had to repeat myself and she was not able to advise owing to lack of medical knowledge regarding medication.

Diabetic review

I was impressed with my experience. I had a blood test and diabetic review. I didn’t feel a thing with my blood test and didn’t have a bruise after. Wonderful.

Asthma review

This is a review for Heyward Road Surgery & Practice

I wasn’t very impressed with the service I received. The nurse I spoke to couldn’t really advise me and appeared to be quite clueless with regard to asthma treatments. Told me to try hayfever tablets. I explained that my inhaler wasn’t really helping but she could not suggest an alternative. In the future I would prefer to speak to a GP from my own surgery.

The nurse who gave me my B12 was as usual quick, efficient and friendly however I do feel that the Group as a whole should also reciprocate and give patients feedback after they have had blood tests etc and not just assume that no news is good news for a patient. Do the staff who man the phones know the distance between surgeries? I was offered an appointment at Crookhorn I have no idea where that is, do not drive and would have had to travel by bus, probably an hours travel and too expensive by taxi.

Thank you for your feedback. The Practice does have a policy of "no news is good news", this is because we do not have capacity to contact patients with the outcomes of all tests that are carried. Patients will be offered appointments at all of our sites dependent on availability, however you can decline in favour of a preferred site, but this may lead to a longer wait for an appointment. Please note when you call for an appointment most of the time, your record and they will not be aware of how you travel to get to an appointment.

The experience of this practice has always been good but in recent times contacting the surgery and trying to get appointments has been difficult.
