First visit

This was my first visit to this surgery which was very easy to get to, I have normally visited Crookhorn. I found everyone I spoke to was very welcoming and the GP I saw for my shingles vaccine was great. It turned out I needed 3 jabs that day due to gaps in my medical records from years ago from a practice in the west country. It was properly explained why I needed them and how many I will need in total. The jabs themselves were virtually painless as indeed was my visit.

Michelle was extremely kind and supportive when I was very nervous about the blood test and general and what I was being tested for. I don’t feel there are many people who would have showed empathy in the way she did, whilst maintaining such a professional manner. Thank you very much for making a difficult time a little easier.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you waited so long for your vaccination. Usually the booking in screen advises if there is any current delays, or the reception staff should, often delays are due to clinical need. We will share this with our team and make changes where possible.

Staff and the doctor who treated me were friendly. I arrived punctually just before 9.40 for my vaccination but was kept waiting 15mins in a practically empty waiting room. I was very conscious of time as I taken the time out of my working day to turn up.

Blood Test

This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery

The young nurse, Katie? I think, was very caring, helpful and genuinely cared about the people she deals with. I was very impressed with her. She also helped SO SO MUCH with my granddaughter, whom had had a "black out " coming home from work, and woke up on the grass... she is very very caring and an asset to the practice. The Crookhorn Practice receptionists are also brilliant, 99.9% are very very helpful and understanding. Over all the real problem is.. .. with the Drs.. you can NEVER GET TO SPEAK TO ONE , LET A LONE SEE, YES SEE ONE. Not heard of.... Paramedics Nurses, but never a Dr.

Thank you for your feedback. All patients are triaged, this allows us to determine which clinician is appropriate, however a GP is available at all sites everyday to support the whole clinical team to intervene/assist where required.

Annual male check up review

2 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery

workingfeedback logo
I have had 3 annual medical check ups over approximately 8 years.
The first was with a GP at the surgery, the 2nd with a locum, the third with a nurse.
Each of these check ups have become much less in time, much less in detail and much less in medical experience. The last check up recorded my weight, my BP and took bloods. I was asked about my mood state in reference to my bi-polar but the nurse knew nothing of my history. She also knew very little about pernicious anaemia and nothing of the fact that I had been in hospital in 2020 with sepsis.
Over the last month or so I have been receiving texts from the surgery (twice a week) to make an appointment for a shingles shot. I have declined this because I have never had chickenpox. I requested the nurse to stop these texts which she agreed to do but have received two such texts since the check up.

Thank you for your feedback. Annual check-up criteria can change, but should still be thorough and you should leave confident that your questions have been answered. We will share your experience with the team and make changes where possible. If you do have any concerns regarding your health please do contact the Practice for an appointment.

Once you get through and get an appointment all is good

This is a review for Crookhorn Surgery

It is practically impossible to get an appointment through the main phone line. If you need an appointment you basically have to book the whole morning off and call continuously (and be ready to be cut off) for hours in hope that you get lucky and get out though.

Thank you for your feedback. We are ware that sometimes it takes a while to get through to make an appointment, however we took the decision after listening to our patients, to reduce the number of lines available, so that patients did not hold on the line for too long, leading to high phone bills. Please do keep trying to call until you can connect to a line, as the calls are answered and dealt with quickly.

Disappointed with the time its taking to respond to e consult

1 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

workingfeedback logo
I phoned on 3rd July to arrange an appointment to discuss returning to HRT but was told I had to complete an e consult. The following Monday (5th) I sent the email to the link provided. I received immediate notification that I would hear by the Close of business the following day. I then received notification that it could take up to 10 days. I haven't heard anything and it is now 19th. I did have a missed call on Thursday last week, which may or may not have been a doctor. I am working in the office everyday and I am in and out of meetings so can not guarantee that I am available when the phone rings. I am at the end of my tether. I have had 6 months of broken nights sleep and as my daughters wedding approaches I would have liked to have this sorted out. I can't fault the people on the front line phone support and the lovely nurse who was so helpful when I had to go to the surgery last week but it is now 11 days and I am disappointed that I still haven't spoken to a doctor. When I phoned this morning a very nice lady said it could be another couple of days. I don't need to speak to someone - just some form of response would be good!

Thank you for your feedback. We have received a large increase in the number of eConsultations received, that we were unable to plan for. We are making some significant changes and patients should notice the response times improve. In the meantime please bear with us and we will come back to you as soon as possible.
