I have COPD, and a Chest infection developed over Bank holiday weekend. Luckily had some steroids left from previous emergency medicine, so started that. Still breathless and coughing on the Tuesday following, Phoned in morning and after 35 minute wait call was answered and an appointment made for that lunchtime with a nurse/practitioner at Kingston surgery which is not my usual surgery, but accessible as my wife was able to drive me there. We had a short wait sitting in the car in the car park alongside the surgery, and were called in through side gate, not coming into contact with anyone but the nurse practitioner, and using hand sanitiser at door before entering the surgery. Problem was dealt with efficiently and I felt enough time was taken to fully comprehend my concerns and ailments.

Blood test

I phoned for an appointment with the nurse for a blood test, was able to get an appointment at a convenient time, arrived at the surgery and was seen at the appointed time, and the nurse was friendly, helpful and business-like.

Finally someone helped me

A bit inconvenient having to go to Kingston Crescent as I live in Southsea. However, I was grateful to be seen and given treatment after more than seven months of extreme pain. A little surprised to be given treatment by a Paramedic but this person was pleasant and professional.

Punctual and the Dr I saw explained the procedure

Booster tetanus and MMR jab

GP very supportive and impartial as he was aware that I had not had the Covid vaccine. I explained why and that I had Covid so felt that my own immunity was sufficient. I never felt judged or pressured, he just made it clear on my choices and that if I changed my mind then the vaccine would be made accessible to me.

With a history of Anxiety and depression can be made 5 times worse by not being able to get though on the phone lines but I am guessing that's the same every where now the staff all polite and helpful.

Somerstown Surgery

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

The reception was efficient and the waiting time was not too long. The nurse was reassuring and pleasant, no problem with the treatment. I'm still not sure who my Doctor is (are patients assigned to a given doctor or Surgery - I used to be at the Heyward Road Surgery). Having no transport, my wife and I had to wait quite a time for a taxi back home (I don't expect the Somerstown Surgery to relocate! - but maybe a telephone line link to a taxi firm (like at QA) might be nice.

Waiting time

Had an appointment for 9am for tetanus booster jab. Was in at 8.55am. No one else in the waiting room before me or come out before I went in and still waited an hour! The receptionist said sorry on the way out. She was very polite, the doctor I saw was also very polite
