Fairly satisfactory visit

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

After a telephone invitation to Cosham Park Surgery to have a Shingles Vaccination, I mentioned to the Doctor afterwards that I was experiencing severe lower back pain which was spreading down both hips and legs. She asked if I had had a recent Blood Test to which I answered no but thought I had been told I should have one at least annually. She kindly arranged this for me and said I could have the test at my local surgery, Kingston Crescent and any paperwork would be waiting there. When I arrived at Kingston Crescent on Friday 21st, they refused to take my blood test as I had not fasted. No mention of fasting had been made at Cosham Park, so a new appointment had to be made, the earliest being 7th June. The Doctor also mentioned that Physiotherapy might be useful and I should try and arrange this with my surgery, i.e. Kingston Crescent - THAT'S ANOTHER STORY!! Should the opportunity arise to review this surgery and Portsdown Group Practice in general, I shall be delighted to do so!

My vist for a blood test. Blood pressure test.

My visit for a blood test. Blood pressure test. As I am always stressed these tests do get to me. With talking about this I was able to keep the stress level low. This was due to doing the blood first then the pressure test second. And that helped. Thank you.

Blood test/conversation

This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery

Right, not sure which this applies to but both blood tests, with two booster jabs were excellent no after effects. Everyone polite and friendly also helpful. Explained everything. Telephone conversation with Doctor with results explained everything especially advising another blood test two weeks time.

Phone access

This is a review for Kingston Crescent Surgery

The staff at Kingston crescent are great when you get through. The online access is also very good.
My main complaint regarding the surgery is the amount of time you have to spend on hold, and the number of times you have to phone up to get through and that you have to listen to the long message before choosing an option and being told there are too many people in the queue and you have to phone back later.

Quick and clean

Vaccination appointments

Having arrived at 3pm for my shingles jab, I waited 3/4 hour to see Dr. Locket. At no stage did anybody approach me, or inform me that the doctor wasn't in the building. When he arrived he was very quick to see me, and the Jabs were administered with total professionalism. Since then, my wife had a text message saying she was due a Pneumonia jab, and to book in on line! My wife does not do Internet, and her phone is not connected to the internet! After several attempts to contact the surgery, she was told that she could just walk in to the surgery, and get the jab, at any time! We now know that this is not the case, and all calls to the surgery go through a call centre in LONDON! After a discussion with the receptionist, she walked out, and now refuses to go back, even to make an appointment! Not a good start to our new amalgamated surgery!!!!!

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry that you experienecd such along wait for an immunisation. We will relay this to the team and ensure that they advise you of any waits - as it can be common around the middle of the day during peak visit times.

You can walk in for a vaccination and can reassure you that your experience is a very rare occurrence that we will learn from.

I can also assure you we do not have a team in London answering the phones! Our contact centre is based at our Cosham Park House surgery.

Receptionists endeavour to alert patients to delays exceeding 20 minutes, however it may be that it was only the patient before you that was delayed unexpectedly. However we will feed this back to the team, thank you.

We have an extensive team of clinicians for acute and routine issues - along with specialist nurses and pharmacists, so it may be that a GP is not always the most appropriate person to speak to.
