No one bothered to contact me

This is a review for Somerstown Surgery

Was meant to have my appointment last Friday been in dreadful pain, but they canceled my phone call once again and rebooked it for a week later. This is dreadful service for us needing appointments.

Thank you for your feedback. Cancellation of appointment is a last resort for us and often only when the clinician who is due to call you has had to be absent unexpectedly i.e. for sickness. Even in these rare instances, we do try and redistribute appointments. Please can you contact the Operations team on 023 9262 7765 to discuss this further, as we are unable to fully investigate with this information.

The response from Portsdown Group Practice as a whole is completely unsatisfactory. Waiting nearly a fortnight to get a response from e-Consult. When it came it was too late to comply with the request for a photo. Unable to speak to surgery directly. And no response from my complaint except to say that I may get a response within 40 DAYS !! Appalling

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear you are not satisfied with the service we have provided you.

We have recently seen a huge increase in eConsults and are reviewing the current processes to try and ensure that delays are not experienced. Two weeks is highly unusual, however if you have submitted a complaint this will be investigated.

With regards to complaints - the response to give you the 40 day timeframe is acknowledgement of your complaint. NHS England guidelines is that the practice is required to respond within 40 working days - this is not a Portsdown timeline. It is often sooner, but we work within NHSE guidelines.

Fantastic GP surgery, was surprised at all the negative reviews... used to be a lifelong patient of Hanway Road until we merged... expected the worst, but I have been bowled over at the level of support, kindness and willingness to help since I unfortunately needed medical help of late. Ignore the rude 1-star reviews.

Great to be seen but odd that I have to travel off the island for app

It's great to be able to get a face to face appointment during a lockdown but very disappointing that I have to drive off the island to do so and that I now have been unable to be seen in the practice I am registered to for 3 years

Thank you for your feedback. To ensure that we provide continuity of care and to maximise our limited resources, patients are offered appointments that are available at all of our sites. The decision is with you as a patient,as to whether you will travel to gain an appointment, or wait for one to be available at your preferred site.
