Covid 19

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

Whilst staff and Doctors are following the rules on two occasions people have been allowed in to conduct business. First a lady who was known to the reception staff who let her in without a mask and on her leaving i asked why she wasn't wearing on twice and with what appeared to me had a smirk on her face as said it's not funny, secondly the guy that collects the blood samples didn't have a mask on apparently he's exempt so what's wrong with him wearing a visor like the reception staff. This on top of wrong 111 signage ie, call 111 when it was go on line to 111, this is one of the worst practices that i have ever been involved in, lied to over missed items off my prescription, implied i was lieing over returning a call have phone record. Just a general lack of professionalism and common courtesy. If it wasn't for the twice weekly treatment by a very professional group of dedicated nurses i and possibly others would leave

Thank you for your 5 star review. I would urge you to contact the Operations team to discuss some of the issues you raise in your review. In terms of masks, we cannot force medically exempt patients or personnel to wear masks or wear documentation to confirm this. We will work with them to ensure safety is upheld as best as possible. We can only ask but have to respect that some people are exempt.

Annoyed and upset

2 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

workingfeedback logo
Have had an upsetting text message from the surgery to say that i have to shall to a doctor before i can order any more of my pain medication, as they accused me of over using my tablets. I have never ever over used my tablets and am extremely upset to be accused of this. 3 of my prescriptions are impossible to over use as there is a date restriction on when i can apply for my repeat. I have only ever followed doctors advise, and i have had 2 surgeries in 4 months on my wrist, so was advised to increase the usage of my Zapain but i spoke to a doctor about this. I then decreased the amount i was skiing as soon as i could, until it went up again after the second surgery 3 weeks ago.

Thank you for your feedback. We are obliged to monitor prescriptions and medicine utilisation for safety purposes. Obviously we cannot comment on any personal information, but we would not accuse a patient of overusing medications in a text message, it is likely that we would highlight that the frequency of requests does not tally with the prescribed dosage, and therefore request you to arrange a review to ensure you are given the appropriate medication for your needs. We do hope you have now had your review and your concerns have been addressed.

A day at the Doctors

3 out of 5 stars

This is a review for Paulsgrove Surgery

workingfeedback logo
I have tried on two occasions to see a Doctor and ended up with a Nurse. I have an ulcerated cut on my leg, One Nurse gave me ointment, which never worked, so I tried for a Doctors appointment and got a Nurse who I'm sure wasn't to sure what he had to do. So he gave me antibiotics which did about as much good as tree moss and to keep on using the ointment. So the last time I went to Paulsgrove to see if I could see a Doctor, but alas no vacancies due to quota filled. I've tried phoning, but by the time both Doctors has spouted their blurb, about corona virus and then give as much information. I'm told that due to such a high volume of calls will I call back and the line goes dead. I've gone beyond being angry. Now I 've to have a second blood test with no reason why !,

I'm sorry that you have not been able to get to the bottom of your medical issue. A doctor is not always the most appropriate person to see you - we will always direct you to the member of the team that has the most training or current experience with specific medical issues. Of course, I do understand that on this occasion this hasn't resolved the problem for you on first contact. We are also experiencing high volumes of calls at present, particularly around COVID vaccinations -and so we urge patients to use our econsult service https://portsdowngrouppractice.webgp.com/ where possible. We do advise that if your problem is urgent, that you call as close to 8am as you can. I do appreciate that our call queues are limited and sometimes you are cut off - but once you are in the queue, please stay in it! Position 15 does not mean a very long wait - we have also updated our call queues to give you position number in queue and the average wait time. We regularly review this information to direct resource appropriately.

Regrettably we cannot do much about the coronavirus blurb on our phone system - and we need to 'spout' about how our appointment system works, to ensure patients are directed appropriately to avoid frustration and ensure people are in the right 'queue' - however we do review this to and amend our messages when it is considered necessary.
