Phoning for an Urgent Appointment Needed at CPH

This is a review for Cosham Park House Surgery

I phoned for an urgent appointment at 09:00 but couldn't get through due to the high volume of calls so I phoned back bang on 14:00 when they open but I was 15th in the queue which I don't really understand as on another occasion I phoned at 13:59 and the message I got was that the surgery does not open till 14:00 please call later and then I was cut off. When I did get through I then had to wait for the doctor to phone me back and when the doctor she said that she didn't really want to get me in the surgery but I had to go to the surgery with the appointment time of 14:30 I did arrive a little early but before I could sit in the waiting room I was called in to be seen. From there everything went well and my prescription was sent to the chemist so it could be delivered the next day.

Thanks for the feedback. Our queue system allows approximately 25 people to virtually queue to speak to a contact centre agent. At our peak times it is highly likely that the queue will fill so quickly when it opens at 2pm (or 8am). However 15th in the queue does not mean a long wait. We do triage all of our urgent appointment requests, to ensure our resource is used as appropriately as possible. We are pleased to hear that your experience of your appointment was positive.

Kingston Crescent Surgery

The telephone system for accessing services is appalling. It is almost impossible to get through, and can take hours to make a simple appointment. I can't access the online appointment system at the moment and will have to phone to have the pass word reset which will probably take another 45 minutes of waiting with the nerve jangling jingle. The actual appointments I've had have been good and efficient with nice staff.

GP Online Consultation

This is a review for Paulsgrove Surgery

I needed to talk to a GP in order to have my repeat prescription filled, so I scheduled a telephone consultation with a GP. He called me at the promised time. I don't know his name, but he was extremely attentive and acted like he really cared about how I was doing. He was in no rush to get through his consultation list, and he was extremely warm and also very professional. I go to a different clinic, but if I could have this doctor as my GP, I would change clinics tomorrow! Well done!

Reviewing my ongoing prescription

When I tried to request my repeat prescriptions online as I always do, the site wouldn't let me tick the boxes for the medicine I take, and I noticed there was a note telling me I needed a GP consultation this time in order the process my request. I scheduled a telephone consultation, and the GP called me at the time scheduled. He couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. In fact, I liked him so much that I wish he could be my regular GP, but I go to the Kingston Crescent Clinic, and I don't think he works there. Also, these days you 'get who you get.' The GP's at Kingston are fine too, but whoever I talked to was fantastic. I don't know his name, but I really liked him. He spoke to me as if he cared about me, and he was very professional.

I have had a mixed experience when interacting with Portsdown Group Practice. Getting help via the phone has been very frustrating. I gave up and emailed but had no response. A Dr phoned me and he listened to all my queries and acted on all of them which I really appreciated.

Blood pressure checks

All staff including receptionist very warm and friendly.
The nurse, explained clearly and concisely the purpose of my attendance and what we were going to do.
The surgery displayed lots of signage showing adherence to current COVID-19 guidance and had several hand sanitisers in operation.

Please contact the Operations team to discuss further. At present, a lot of our calls are not given a specific time, but a window i.e. morning or between 2pm and 5pm. However your call went across a typical 'session' and this is unusual. We would like to investigate this further.
