Thank you for your feedback. We have invested significantly in our telephone system, which attempts to match capacity with patient demand at all times. There are times of day, however, which are busier than others and, during these times, it will be more difficult to get through. We do constantly monitor the situation and, if indicated, make further investment in our communications infrastructure.

I felt very safe, good social distancing. The staff were polite and assertive about the rules on arrival. The doctor took time to answer my questions. I was very pleased as this was my first time at this surgery as I used to attend Stubbington Ave.

Should be more phone lines as you keep acquiring more surgery's. More surgery's mean more people but you still on have one line should have more lines to deal with patients. Different numbers for different things instead of going thru one number.

Thank you for the 4 star review and for your feedback. We actually have expanded our phone system to accommodate recent mergers and increased patient list size that has resulted in increased call volumes. We have one telephone number for ease and convenience to our patients. However, we do have several options once you get through to the practice to assist patients in being directed appropriately. If you call 023 92009191 you will hear our options. We review this information and call information on at least a monthly basis, to determine how we can best utilise our resources.

Don't forget that in many circumstances, you don't actually need to phone in at all - you can use our eConsult facility: https://portsdowngrouppractice.webgp.com/ where you will get an update within 48 hours. Thank you.

Staff are always friendly however I was recently disappointed with my post natal check up as it felt very tick box and my stomach muscles weren't checked. If I'm honest I didn't feel confident with the care we received in this check up. There was also a mix up and we had to go back for babies vaccinations the following week.
The nurse who did babies vaccinations was absolutely fantastic as was the nurse I saw recently for my smear test, both were so positive and had a great manner needed for these jobs.

With regard to your recent check up- if you can email [email protected] with subject header 'FAO Operations' and provide more details, we can certainly look into that for you. Unfortunately we are unable to contact without more detail. Thankyou

Absolute joke trying to get an appointment. Took me over a week of being cut off and appointments being all gone. Having chest problems but had a telephone appointment, surely need to listen to chest at a minimum?! In process of changing doctors.

Ok, trying for a second time as my previous comments were rejected as i used too many capital letters and was told i was shouting. my father and I have been with this surgery since it came into being. I was born in 1965 and used the original family gp opposite... initially things were ok, but over time everything has become modernised and not always for the better in our opinion. My 90 yr old father cannot wait on the phone for an hour to make a routine blood appointment, he prefers to go in person or call the surgery direct not a call centre and I agree with him. Seeing an actual gp is like winning the golden ticket! I will not elaborate about our overall opinion about the surgery as it is not very good. The only people that make our lives easier and give service with a smile are the nurses and receptionists, but even the latter tear their hair out at the politics involved.... Likewise, we are finding my father is now at a disadvantage (in our opinion) as the surgery comes under Portsmouth and we have to try and work out who is responsible for his care needs. Not happy.

Thank you for taking time to provide feedback. With the ever-increasing demands on our services, it is simply not possible or, indeed, appropriate for all our patients to see a GP, particularly for urgent problems. All of our Nurse Practitioners and Paramedic Practitioners are fully clinically trained and supported by an on-site duty doctor if they need any assistance whatsoever. We have a centralised contact centre, to enable us to maximise the limited resources we have available to provide a more efficient service to our patients. We cannot make changes that will suit all patients. Although the bulk of our Practice is Portsmouth based, our staff are aware of the facilities available for patients living outside Portsmouth.

I’m generally shocked at the way I’ve been treated over the last week!
I had an appointment last week and was told to take over the counter painkillers and to come back if it got worse!
Well a week later I was in agony with pain but missed a call from the doctor, my phone literally rang once! This then happened again the next day! I’m now having to go to a walk in centre to get help as my own doctors won’t help me!

Thank you for the feedback and we are sorry you do not feel our service met your expectations. We are unable to comment on medical advise with our further details. However, we do endeavour to call patients back twice before advising patients that they have to try again. This is due to high volume demand for on the day appointments and should have been explained when requesting an urgent call back.

I try to use the doctors as little as possible but when ever I do need an appointment that is not urgent I can’t get one. I call day after day and wait in queue after queue to then get told all the appointments are gone.
